Self-explanatory, really.
Do you know the right answer?

Edit :
Naturally the loser must be permitted to leave the system. If he comes back, that is another matter.

The applicable Server Rules are :
Quote:5.6 If a player engages cruise engine or docks during a PvP fight, this player is considered fleeing. The fleeing player must leave and may not re-enter the system where the fight took place with any of the characters on his/her account(s) while the enemy (player or players involved in the fight) remains in the system, but no more than 4 hours.

However, the fleeing player can re-engage at will if chased.

5.7 A player who was killed in a PvP fight must not enter the system where the fight took place with any of the characters on his/her account(s) while the enemy (player or players involved in the fight) remains in the system, but no more than 4 hours.

If the player respawns in the same system, he/she must leave the system without engaging. Other players are not allowed to attack one who is leaving.

5.8 A player who was killed in a PvP fight must not re-engage the enemy (player or players involved in the death) with any of the characters on his/her account(s) for 4 hours.

5.9 After a death in a PvP fight, players should switch to other characters (preferably with different role-playing status) for no less than 4 hours.

5.10 Self-killing during a PvP fight is counted as a normal PvP death.

the second sounds reasonable. But I would rather fill out a sanction report then shooting him down again in the same sysem

Edit: would be ok for the looser to be attacked anywhere. but I think a half hour seas fire for maintenance would be appropriate.

I think its the second.

Neither.

According to the rules, if the losing character respawns in the same system after death, wining players MUST let that character leave without engaging. If the losing player is by his actions disregarding the rule that states he MUST leave the system where he got killed or switch to another character, then the wining player(s) can attack the losing character anywhere, including the same system. In that case, the first one would be correct.

EDIT: One thing that perhaps should be revised is adding a little reminder to the spirit of these rules stating that the character who's lost the fight and is about to leave, must do so in a timely fashion. Maybe even include a time cap for it to be gone. That way we'd avoid people spamming system chat from their "escape pods", half an hour later saying that they're still leaving. Hell, certain people will even get back to the same system and call upon the "I'm leaving" card.

The 1st option.. Anything doesnt make sense.

The defeated player should ideally retreat before the winner but we all know that does not happen. Example a pirate is killed in a house system. He then moves one system within that house and continues to pirate, is the lawful that killed him now unable to respond to calls from help from other players being attacked by that pirate because the loser does not switch chars?

Thats just one example, the same works in reverse. If I am killed in Alaska in my LSF and I fall back to NY. I should fall back again if the winner comes to NY because I cannot attack the victor. If however the winner comes across me and choses to engage me then it's my own fault for not retreating before this player.

The loser should always avoid the victor, the winner should not be punished for the loser acting OORP and not falling back or switching chars.

I second Spear and Gronath's points

voted "no" - we are playing on a RP server... and we do not believe in ghosts. - the defeated player "plays dead" for 4 hours... and so should the winning player treat him.

anything else is pvping for pvpsake. - the looser must avoid the winner anyway - so the only way to get into a fight again is when the winner activly goes after a character that is supposed to be non existant anyway = funny roleplay.

so the looser avoids the winner, the winner avoids the looser, everyone is happy - - - for 4 hours.

And four hours is a magic roleplaying number on what basis?
Nope, four hours is a non-roleplaying server rules issue.
And nobody gets killed either, or we'd all have been dead long ago and no one would be able to play on the server past a starflier.
Funny roleplaying is a navy man allowing a pirate to run amok one system over because he blew him up once an hour ago and isn't "allowed" to go blow him up again.
Roleplaying would be assuming that it isn't the same pirate, but another one by the same name, maybe his eviler twin brother.

In any case, this isn't about roleplaying, which is a term you won't find anywhere in the poll or my first post. It's about the server rules.

Said the second myself otherwise you could have 1 less skilled player being chased and killed all over which to be fair probably wouldn't happen but shouldn't be allowed anyway.
