See straight away with 9 posts by other members there is already confusion about this. I would like to propose or request that this "Rule" to be added to the Server Rules to it is clear to everyone the rule on this instead of people be confused about it. It is very clear that we have mixed thoughts with this, some people say yes it is allowed, some people say no it isn't, but yet we have a thread which was made previous to this one about the same thing...
I would like to see this be implemented into the Server Rules so if it does come up in question on skype, it could easily stop people wasting time with writing sanction reports on this but it will be clear to everyone.
If it helps, it might be added. However rules nowhere say that official factions must have their ships tagged, thus not wearing it can not be rule violation. I don´t see where people took it.
There are only two rules - one is that every ship must have ID, and second that all ships using same tag must use only one same ID. Not wearing a tag is not mandatory and thus can not be considered as rule violation.
And, remember, fun fact - the new rules have made it so that greentext is actually not applicable anymore.

Er, sorry, may not be applicable. This being said, it should really remain a rule. It's a nice bit of freedom and there aren't any real appreciable negative effects from it for other players.

We are allowed to RP based on the ID that comes back with scanning the ship, correct?
If the ship is untagged, but we see the ID as primary faction, we, inRP, know that?
Or, is this not allowed? Do we have to "play along" with the fact that they are undercover, and RP based on the IFF that shows?
Just curious.
Generally, IDs are visible inRP (and usually ship has respective IFF anyway). Though there are few exceptions like Wilde or undercover operations (like intelligence faction flying ship with FL IFF and pretending they are freelancer) where is part of RP etiquette to pretend you don´t see the ID and play along. However it is optional, not mandatory, so if you start directly yelling "Wilde ship here, attack it!", drop proper engagement notice and attack it, it is not against rules, just against good RP manners (also you may rob yourself from interesting encounter, sometimes it is quite fun to play controlled role of a victim).

It's a pretty ok system in my book.
This.
There's no need to 'regulate' it at all. Leave it as it is.
As the former Admin who posted that, I still am happy with that decision. It allows freedom for the player. It allows those who wish to expand their RP to do so. Obviously since it doesn't help faction time, using it would ideally be done in limited quantities (Thoguh that's entirely up to the person and/or Faction Leader), but all in all a good system.
