You have to turn around and face them for them to give up pursuit (I can only imagine why. Maybe they calculate your probable trajectory to give chase by "looking" at your vector and by flying backwards you break that algorithm).

While they may use thrusters, they will eventually run out of thruster power, and thus fall back. Never knew about the turning round bit...might have to try that *Prepares for another run through 58...*

I'd say that 58 is precisely the place NOT to try this. The NPCs will tear you apart before ever falling out of weapons range.

Aww, but it's so fun when you finally DO outrun them...

You don't have to face them for them to fall behind, or use rear view. Just e-kill and only tap thruster to change your trajectory to avoid fire. Once you get out of get out of gun range it's straight flying until you can cruise again. Much safer than turning around and leaving yourself open to gunfire.

Yeah, Wow. I'm surprised to find so many people didn't know about this.
I remember when I first started playing FL, I thought it was SO DANG HARD!!
Because when starting out in a weak ship, 3 rogue Bloodhounds are a Real Problem.
Then when I discovered this bug, life (or rather living) became MUCH easier.
Those of you learning this for the first time will be amazed at how much easier FL
just got.

I kinda did this once, but I thought the NPCs just gave up randomly, didn't know it would work every time!

Will make life for my Nepthys much easier.

it does work every time.

NPC's chase you with what you use to run...

so if you mash down your afterburners. . .so do they.

if you kill thrust and only tap your afterburners to keep your speed up you can outrun them.

this trick works very well to avoid cargo demands. once an NPC scans (and you know you have something they will demand) go to cruise speed and kill thrust, the npc will also kill cruise, but you will still be going 350.:cool:they quickly fall behind.

that bug was simple to discover, they never use trust when you face them.

Also there is a weird dodging bug (happens very often) you target one NPC and shoot all the others.
They wont dodge, just fly their usual abstract paths.

wassup

Yeah this is a pretty old tactic. We call it the "Turn and wave"

Just thurst, kill the engine, turn and spam fire then turn and cruise away.

It's handy for those annoying NPCs.

Characters:

[FF] Seth Askura - Serving commander in the lawful mercenary unit "Faith of the Fallen"
Askura - Off duty commander in the lawful mercenary unit "Faith of the Fallen"
Muraka - Elderly Kusarian trader.

[FF] Is now a (mainly) lawful mercenary group. Anyone under the tag who commits unlawful activities should be reported at once to myself, [FF].Jaden.Crow or [FF].Klauss.Schneider. Thank you.
