I use Fraps,and it is pretty good.You can save SS where ever you want and in any format.
You can also record movies...

If your computer is infected with vistaids, it saves differntly.

Mine save to C:\Users\USERNAME\Pictures\FreelancerShots

Zscreen... It lets you save in 5 different formats, and is free. Oh, and you can change where they are saved to.
