Subject: Successful Expedition

Hello, Flintlocke.

Halpert has recently published the black box recordings of the expedition into Omicron Pi. I must say... that sector was declared outside our flight zone, and breaking it appears to have yielded an interesting structure deep within the northern minefield.

Due to the result of this particular excursion, it would be in our best interest to continue to work more closely together to discover more natural phenomena. Especially in the sectors we have been advised not to fly in, namely the Sigma and Omega system clusters.

The way we usually operate is to send our ships alongside our partners, but if you have other ideas to enable a closer working relationship, I am interested to hear them.

You will have to forgive us, Mr. McKenzie. We've been outside of communication range for a considerable amount of time. We ventured beyond the Rim and as such any communication relays from Sirius proper. We've only just returned within range of Roussillon from the Lambda cluster to find active combat occurring in the system at a more fervent pace than when we left. We've since relocated to Orkney and are preparing for a secondary excursion into the black as soon as our restock is complete.

The jump to Pi did net some interesting scans--all of which were forwarded on to your people to review. Thanks to our advanced sensor suite, we were able to penetrate much deeper into the strange structure at the center of the mine field than any other ships would be capable of. However, the dangerous levels of radiation within the mine field and the considerable doses from the ruin itself proved to be too much for the Darkhorse to handle and we were forced to execute an emergency jump from within the minefield itself. Luckily, no damage was caused during said jump and we safely repaired at Livadia Shipyards a few hours later.

In regards to your suggestion to work more closely together, that is of course acceptable to our crew. We've received updates from our former bosses in SLRC. T'would seem they are more active again as well. Perhaps a project between the three of us would net us beneficial gains. Time will tell in the future though, I suppose.

We will be out of communications range again for a time. Should any of your people wish to join us on this excursion into deep space, please have them meet us in Orkney and we will see they are provided room and board, as well as equipment necessary to take scans of the locations we are heading. We will standby in system for 12 hours in expectant arrival of one of your staff. If none show, we will depart the system anon.

Hello, Flintlocke.

The survey package has been redirected to our data servers pending further review and analysis. Halpert has been largely uncommunicative since that expedition into Pi, though based on what you have told me, it sounds like it was a stressful place to be in.

Things have slowed down since our redeployment into Tau-23, our fleet is seen less and less in recent days. I believe next we see of our own ships will be after your departure. Godspeed on your efforts within the Lambda cluster.

Starlight has lit up it's beacons on board Ikarus, so we will continue to co-operate with them.

Quite, it t'would seem that Leo finally decided to do what he thought was necessary and took his position at the head of Starlight. We've been contacted by him to, "rejoin the team", so to speak. In discussions with the crew of the Darkhorse and the accompanying Zenith, we've decided to accept their offer and have once again resumed duties under the Consortium.

As has always been the case Albert, the Starfliers are always welcome to join Starlight in our exploration and research duties. You have been our "partners in crime" since the halycon days of our respective formations, and I do not see that ending anytime soon. We'll be outside of communications range after this message is sent, but we hope to see you again within approximately a week.

Also, Leo wanted me to send you something...something concerning. We recently did a pass through Dublin to do regular scans of the destroyed New London jump gate there. We have been doing regular scans of the forming anomaly at it's center since it's destruction. We were ordered to aim our powerful scanning array at it considering smaller ships have been getting increasing levels of interference from it over the recent months...the report below is from myself to Dr. Morningstar. It's important both of our teams invest resources into studying these anomalies considering our proximity to a major one.

We will speak again, soon. I wish you the best.

Director,

As requested, the Darkhorse and Zenith recently made a pass by Dublin before our resumption of surveys in the Lambda cluster via Roussillon. You were correct in assuming our scanning array would penetrate the interference through which other smaller Starlight ships were unable to. What was discovered by cutting through said interference is concerning. The anomaly in Dublin displays similar characteristics to that of our own in Tau-23 when unstable. However, what is more alarming is the amount of radiation being thrown off from the forming anomaly.

Disturbingly, we detected trace amounts of non-typical Hawking radiation emanating from its center and exuding outwards towards the edge of the debris site. My limited knowledge of quantum mechanics tells me that this may be less of an anomaly and more of a rift in space--possibly a forming tear not unlike that of a jump hole, its endpoint a mystery.

I would recommend further study of the anomaly in Dublin along with the aid of our Starflier cousins next door. No doubt our numbers are diminished, and they would be able to shore up our lack of manpower...not to mention joining hands in the spirit of camaraderie.

We will be deploying from Roussillon shortly to the Lambda cluster for approximately four days and will return for a debrief on the 14th. We will have limited communications until then.

Ever upwards.
