Admittedly, in a true full-RP environmental utopia, this would be possible, as all there would want to role-play. (However, that is not possible here.)

In case my last sarcastic post in this thread has been misinterpreted, an increase in profits is what I was suggesting.
That was more or less my point. Judging from what you got in your quote of my post, I'm thinking that you missed my edit. I think my suggestion there would just about cleanly solve the problem. Ask me again in the morning, and I might tell you something different.

Oh yes, I was just supporting it more overtly.

I missed the edit, but saw it when I posted. Either way, I would second that proposal.

Hmm. I think I may go and crack open a cold one.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

The problem is mining was essently betatested on the server.

Let me illustrate with text

Devs:
" Oh, lets put ore in Penn...... and the ONLY place that ALL OF HUMANITY has capable of refining it in New Tokyo"
Hogosha/AFA indies: (this is aimed at the ones whose RP was crap)
" OLOLOLOL LETS SIT RIGHT BY NEW TOKYO AND PIE RAT PEOPLE, THEN SELL IT OURSELVES TOO! "
LOLminers
" LOL LETS PIERAT OTHER MINERS WHILE WE MINE "
Devs:
" OMG EVERYONE DOING THAT SAME ROUTE!!!! OH NOES !!!! LETS BALEETE! "

Then rise and repeat with gold in dublin, execpt they just nerfed rather than remove.

Want to fix mining ? Want to fix trade ?

Balance it further.

4 houses plus the hispanians. (ok theres gallia too, but gallia is kinda...... dead. Noone goes there in numbers. Its boring)

To start, commodities.

take all the comodities, and decide several things

1- wheres it made at
2- wheres it needed at
3- what materials go into making it.

Now, first of all... the common goods...

They're made at more than one place. They're needed at more than one place. They're needed everywere. Thats why they're common.

Stuff like food rats and what not. Places with bio domes and farmable surface land have the best buy prices. Isolated or crowded places have the best sell price.

Establist single house routes for these commodities. Single SYSTEM routes even.

From there you go to the more expenseve items, ore's included, and have routes going from house to house.

You have each house have their own single house buy/sell routes for these items (engine components, for example) but houses produce their specality items for much cheaper. This creats the house to house trade routes. And they'll make sense to boot!

Next, OC and 'sairs.

You have routes to run them supplies.

Were the supplies go should depend on what it is.

You then smuggle goods back, or take them halfway to an intermediary base.

For mining... you have ore fields of every type everywere.

You have every house capable of refining the ore's.

You just have some houses better at it than others.

All this is done, and trading becomes more dynamic.

Pie Rats will be everywere, not just camping a few easy to hit profitable routes.

Trades will be forced to think a little..... ok, quite a few wont and will just cry. But we'll just point and laugh.

For the 4 houses

I wouldn't say its dead. Honestly... I have another version of the things here.

Greed.

Think about it people. Think about how this site is presented to new players.
Think about how commodities are done, think about those programs like freelancer
companion that give them the supposed best trade routes.
Xoria himself said many many times that just looking at the two way directions and
calculating the costs will never reveal you the best trade route.

Imo things look like this now:

you have Dublin that is as much as Anarchy as it is supposed to be. An everlasting struggle of pirates vs pirates vs pirates (kudos to sprolf for the molly - rest restricting of bases) vs BMM vs IMG vs Indie miners.
It's a hell hole. I mean seriously, if you ask me would I mine there, I'ld say "sure, with two escorts and a frikkin destroyer parked 15k away from me.

But people still mine there. Why?
It's the basic greed. Ore is mined out in 30 minutes, and if you make it trough that you have
about 60mil in your cargo hold of goods. Now you just have to carry it away and you got yourself
60mil! It's the players of discovery hardcourt. They are greedy and they want to run only highest paying routes.

Kusari:
- quantnum multiplexors / optronics / plutonium / Hfuel / robotic components / engine components / optical chips
- Luxury food / artifacts / cardamine / human organs / platinum / gold / gate parts / superconductors / high temp alloy

All decent trade routes. More than decent. Actually pretty great routes. Military vehicles go trough Kusari as well. Big time. And please don't jump on me about plutonium and hfuel restrictions because that leaves a great profit to smugglers. What, forgot about them? Yeah, they make killer profit and they dont have to be slave / cardy haulers. OMG REALLY? YEA.

Liberty:
- Luxury consumer goods / turists / robotic components / gate parts / platinum / light arms / superconductors / counterfit software
- plutonium / optical chips / quantnum multiplexors / cardamine / artifacts / military vehicles / bio neutral procesors / black market munitions / GOLD ORE

Rheinland and bretonia you can write yourself. Bottom line, there are awesome routes around the world.
But no.

"I need to haul plutonium from Okinawa to Omega 49, the FL companion says it's an awesome route. Why does KSP / KNF stop me and shoots at me? Why do outcasts screw with me in sig 19? Why do Corsairs pirate me in omega 41? Why do hessians stop me in omega 47?"

not really a cool route huh?

Bottom line is that people always want to go for highest profit. Some people proved it few days ago. It made me sad to how far does that go. It made me sad few months ago, but I don't want to mention those things now. Bottom line is that even though I have some disagreements, Xoria balanced Sirius good enough so you can develop Corporate trading, mining, smuggling and piracy well enough. It is up to us to help it develop.

If you really aren't happy with 30mil per hour then I don't know what the hell do you want.
30 million per hour means 210million in 7 days of logging in, trading for hour and talking smack with your friends. In a month, you are ready to sit in that god damn capital ship you wanted and dissapoint yourself.

Leave the greed at home, it's certainly not a center stone you want to build your freelancer experience around.

Well I don't have problem with this. Make it 400 mill or 10 mill in hour.
In my accounts I have only unlawful ships (except one battleship and one merc who is unlawful too) and they are good in feeding by itself.Besides that will not work in game mechanics - 2 Miners fulling one A train and he sells their ore.The train make around 60-70 mill per hour but the money will be divided later to miners escorts etc.
I cannot see the connection between Role Play and cash, you can find someone in starflya or in Pelican who RP very well and "engagin guns fre /1 /2 /3 /4" idiot in cap8 carrier.
