It's illogical, to say the least, to see on a regular basis, a spam of Tridentes, Hacker Gunships, and Rogue Gunboats, deep within Liberty space. Especially when said large vessels are lolpirating a poor little trader for five million credits. Last time I brought out my personal Tridente was because there was a Corsair gunboat. Not to pirate, but to wtfpwn a lolsair.
Maybe the major pirate factions should just say "enough is enough, no unlawful gunships in our house". Similar to what the Rogues (supposedly) did with the Tridente spam.
That's why France can't win any wars. The police has all their tanks.
Aside from my opinion that Agmen is dead on target, I like this idea as well. I purchased a pirate transport a while back withe the intention of pirating with it until I had earned the cash with it to buy a gunboat. Now that I have earned three times the cash to buy that gunboat, I have decided that the pirate transport is much more fun. I beat up transport fitted with big guns, heavy armor, and a hold to carry a great deal of booty actually seem much more like a pirate ship to me. Throw in a second as a partner of even a bomber and it's a force to be reckoned with.
I know that wasn't really the intent of this thread but it is something I'd like to see more of.
Even using the flawed assumption that a system is a city, when criminals go around in tanks, the military answers them. The police might hold the line, but they're not going to just go "grab the bazooka out of the trunk" and take care of it.
In the stereotype land of FL, Space is an Ocean. Police handle commerce, civil stuff, and low scale pirates- Xenos, most Liberty Rogues, Bundschuh, LWB, etc. When the more militaristic "pirates" come calling- Outcasts, Corsairs, Red Hessians- that's the military's job. The police will still hold the line, but when it comes to cracking warships, the military gets funding for a reason. The pirate factions with caps are effectively hostile nations- would you send the NYPD or Coast Guard to repel a Russian invasion? Hell no. They might help, but they wouldn't be your mainstay forces.

Then since the Militaries handle stuff so well, why don't the allmighty devs just remove the police factions/IDs/NPCs and whatever? cause as I see nowadays, there's just no need for them, expect in Liberty, but there, LPI is almost like the LN, except they patrol in patroits and only bring the Guardians/Avengers/Gunboats/Dreadnought when they feel like or when there's a lot of people there.
On the other hand, the RFP had to promise Malexa that we won't use the one single GB we have anywhere else then by the trade lanes... while I see an LPI gunboat whenever I go to Liberty ... hell , even Ihad one when I was in the LPI ...
And right now, I'd love to troll and flame the RM, but I just won't ...
