Flashies are now decent guns, but nowhere near being "OP". I don't get it from where you are dragging such claims. They don't even reach avarage DPS of 2000+. While sammaels are to be used on rouge ships. Werewolf which can't be really used in group fights and is simply HUGE ship. And greyhound which lacks one gun/turret but isn't exactly very neat in the agility department either.
