Yeah I see why you'd do it. But sorting by group and system are just going to do you anyway. I think a better option is what the lane hackers do, or used to do back before the activity tracker thing, and just not have the tags at all. If you scanned one, they had the hacker pilot and the cardamine, so you knew it was one then, but that was it. It's classy.

I don't think putting the tag on the right is particularly effective but I think wanting to hide yourself on the player list is totally fine.

Your problems one should have...

Having the tag on the right side is perfectly legit and only makes metagaming harder which is a pleasent sideeffect.

So... after musing a bit:

Ok, I see it acceptable and legit... But there is a single point that still makes me wonder about the freedom on allocating the tag:

Quote:or used to do back before the activity tracker thing

With that, you mean that they stopped setting their tag on the right side, or that they simply set a tag?

As it's menctioned above, I get the immediate deduction that the tags have been put on the left side for the activity tracker to work? This means the official factions are forced to set their tag on the left side or not?

If so, we still have a problem due to lack of freedom on setup...
If they're not forced to, then the problem's completely over...

The activity tracker doesn't care where the tag is placed, so long as there's only one tag being recorded.

So my faction's tag is Bowex).

I could have ShipBowex), which would look ridiculous... but the tracker would still log it.

Just gonna point out one thing.

Before we had the awsome FLHook thingys assocaited with tags, it made no difference where a group put the name.

MM started out as Name[M].

TBH used it at end of name too.

Plenty of groups did it at the end.

People starting a group now are likely doing it, as we did, with no intention of messing anything up for anybody; they just would not have thought of any implications. Used to be just an arbitrary decision.

If you want to track a group in game, sort the player list by group number...

Who doesn't?

Anyway, I'm afraid this has nothing to see with the current discussion, feel free to open your own thread about this if you want to, so it can be discussed politely like it has been done at this topic.

Right, then there's nothing I should be annoyed with anymore.

As it has already been said during the discussion, it's an option, in the case the involved people are in a group or willing to group... In the case they are uncoperative about this, I suppose I'll simply be uncommunicative aswell...

Anyway, a valid conclusion has already been reached, proving that the usage of tags on the right side of the name is acceptable...

Again, thank you everybody for your time and patience. And also! I'm glad that this discussion took place without any useless disruption or unneccessary trolling like the last time... (that made me type the disclaimer part on this post).

Darn, I was all set to argue my side, but it seems you've already found complacency...
