Can it not detect it as you press enter to open the chat box, too? This would be a very useful feature, for those times when you're sitting, RPing with someone, and you're not sure if they're even responding to you...

The client can detect it yes, but i cant think of a reason off-hand why it would need to tell the server that the chat window is open. This means it probably does not tell the server this. But, you know, this is all conjecture.

The /setmsg <number> <message> is a good replacement thou :)
