Fighters should not be able to take on capital ships and expect to have any chance of winning.

As it stands currently, capital ships have little or no chance of doing enough damage to a fighter to be worthwhile. Fighters can do a certain amount of damage to capships but not enough to be worthwhile.

Perhaps the balance is already right?
Neither can go after the other(without support) and expect anything more than a draw.

You're partially right Ant.
A single fighter can barely scratch the shield of a battleship.
A bomber... that's something else. But bare in mind the fact that there are two more very important facts to that: the pilot of the fighter and the pilot of the BS (well, in RP - the gunners of the BS).
Anyway, bare in mind the damage inflicted, a BS needs to get two consecutive salvos into the fighter/bomber and the fighter/bomber needs to pound the BS for a long time and dodge those two consecutive salvos.

I'll cut this short, my point is: if a BS can't hit the fighter/bomber because it's gunners are bad shots... it does deserve to be destroyed.

So, an 'interdictor gun' as I called it, would be justified, on the other hand, the capships have Cruise Disruptor mounts that fire 360 degrees, not anyone's fault no one carries CDs with them.

The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor

I believe the general power balanace between BS, bomber and fighter are fine. The BS cruise disruptor is an effective interdiction weapon for large ships. I don't like the idea of a fighter or bomber being able to keep a cap ship from escaping.

The idea of the 'Interdictor' Gun is to be something like a replacement for the cruise disruptor missiles, no homing and it would take some two bars of energy per shot to fire with the same refire as the cruise disruptor missile. Fixing the speed problem of the advanced cruise disruptor missiles not going at the right speed (they travel at 300, not 800 or something as they should). Also giving you a choice of loosing a gun mount for the ability to carry something like a Mini Razor, Inferno, Nova AMC or a Swarm.
