I was confused by this at first but I have found several people using "w" to mean wait. There is also "no blasters or blasters" which is for Nomad Blasters.

Thank you so much for the responses so far. This is exactly what I was asking for. And not even one smart alack telling me to just read the forum - which I have been doing anyway thank you very much . Keep it coming!
Requests:
"Flooding"
I am compiling a database of ships that I come across in order to not rely on my memory, and note that all capital ships are designated as freighters on the infocard, which I just read in another thread (SEE I am studying, not just asking questions) is technically innaccurate. Without listing all of the possible elements to this question, what is the proper RP class designation (if that is not the right term, add that to this question) for different types of capital ships. Such as:
Battleships
Liners
etc.
Also, since a lot of people are viewing this thread already, it seems inefficient to start another thread just to say the following, besides which it tangentially relates:
To all Pilots who are guarding systems from intruders or protecting territory: please specify pilot names when using system chat to make demands about intentions etc. The full name in at least the first message, perhaps following messages just the first letter of the name. I'm ignoring some of you because I can't tell who you are talking to. If you don't use my name, then I assume you are addressing some else prior to my entry to the system. Let's not provoke something due to lack of a few letters. It is the challenger's responsibility to properly address the one challenged, or do we want everyone in the system to say "Who? Me?" to every un-addressed demand.? I.E. :
"Xoria, prepare for inspection"
(thumb twiddling commences)
"X, drop the cargo of orangutans now or die! We Rheinlanders have a mutual protection pact with Planet Primus! They saved our hides the last time a Junker invaded our territory and now we are going to return the favor."
I have read the discussion of pirating situations and am NOT addressing pirates here, just the legal authorities or territorial guards of whatever faction or clan. And obviously, the above communication is only long in order to be humorous. I do not expect or request such long explanations when in Sirius.
And so forth.
Thanks in advance. I don't want to have to embarrass any more BIG HUGE BATTLESHIPS. (Unless I intend to, of course.)
Carry on.

Here's an interesting thread that addresses some common questions. By the way, considering that this thread is "dead"-- meaning "inactive", to bring it back up by posting in it is refered to as "Grave-digging." It is generally looked down upon, unless done with good reason.
As far as classification of ships:
Gunboats, Cruisers, Battlecruisers, Destroyers, Carriers, and Battleships are all classified as "Capital Ships."
Any other ship with a cargo hold larger than 1000 units, is classified as a "Transport."
--There is some discrepancy here, as the rules are changing for the next mod release to make Transports classified as anything more than 500 units, instead of 1000.
"Freighters" would be any other trading vessel larger than a fighter and with less than 1000 units of cargo space.
Light Fighters, Heavy Fighters, Super Heavy Fighters, and Bombers are all classified under the same umbrella of "Fighter."

How are ships like Prison Liners and other capital ship sized "specialty" ships and ships with the term "liner" in their name treated? Are they RP restricted to specific functions, such as a Prison Liner can only transport "prisoners" and "pilots"?
Or are they RP'd as a battleship that provides support to the main fleet, or are they just used for whatever the pilot wants? I read a thread that referred to a medical ship, and that would fall under the "specialty" category that I am talking about as well. I suppose that the activities of the Orbital Spa and Cruise faction would come into play under this topic as well, although it appears from my reading that their activities as a "clan" have ceased.

I recently read a post by one of the Admins that said that a prison liner (or luxury liner) with gunboat turrets gets reclassified from a transport to a gunboat. Similarly, a battlecruiser with battleship turrets gets reclassified from a cruiser to a battleship. Note that in 4.84, prison liners and luxury liners won't be able to mount gunboat turrets.
Capital ships are defined as gunboats, cruisers and battleships. I can't remember if destroyers are classified as gunboats or cruisers. The original Freelancer game never intended for players to be able to fly a capital ship, so the infocards have to say freighter, since an Admin posted (sorry, I can't remember where) that the Discovery mod can't change that.
The RP rules don't specify that prison liners are only limited to carrying prisoners and pilots, just as the luxury liner isn't limited to carrying passengers.

Thank you for the continuing input.
As I was reading the server rules for the fourth time in the past week I came to this one:
6.7 Dock-killing is not allowed.
Someone please tell me what dock-killing is.
I have a few ideas, but they are not all compatible with each other.
Specifically, is this related only to "docking" with bases, or also related to "docking" with trade lanes and jump gates/holes?

Dock killing is killing someone as soon as they undock.

Xoria: While I was writing my smart alack response above, you posted again. Dock-killing means killing players as they launch before they have full control of their ships. On some FL servers, it's also known as dock-raping.
