Cos transport vs transport combat just sounds.....well, laaaame.
I'm gonna jump in and say we should call it a Brig, or Brigandine, "which from now on shal be referred to as the Brig". Good ole fashine poirit ship designed for lubber trubbin and booty luggin.
I mean, I guess I can understand what you mean, the transport itself in its name implies it wasn't made to fight. But then again everything that has borderworlds or outer worlds, or in this case pirate as a prefix can be expected to pack a punch. A heavy one.
Moving from that, and all the battleships aside and crap like that, the transport outfitted to actually fight and plunder shows the dedication of poor but determined unlawful forces to bring harm on their enemies. If it had a meaner look, or a pack of "wings" and a different name (like pirate frigate) people would be completely ok with it.
I'm still unsure would I ever exchange my ptrans for anything, people just need to understand the concept of transport isn't limited to hauling stuff. Except if you talk about hauling punches, pain and doom!
' Wrote:Therefore I suggest a new ship that is powerful enough to take on a transport with some ease, but is not good at all against taking on bombers.
then why would people buy it, knowing it has such a massive weakness?
we should instead be encouraging people to fly in groups: fighters, bombers and some BWT to mop up the goodiez.
Well.. few ships like Ptrans could do nice.. and come in handy. At least few of pirate factions should get their version of it, maybe buffed a little.. more cargo.. more guns.. more armor, better then normal in any way would do:)

In that case the lawful factions should get an equally tough version with better defensive capabilities, heavy armor, etc etc. A beefed up BWTrans available to both pirate and trader factions would <strike>not</strike> be a bad thing. Problem is, traders would probably not use anything else anymore if the thing has over 3K in cargo. A group of heavily armed and armored traders can drive off the odd pirate with ease. You'd run into a situation where transports no longer need escorts to survive. Which is a bad thing.
