It would add a massive amount of book-keeping into the game, cap-ships cost enought to buy and outfit now, you need well into the 100 million mark to buy and outfit a cruiser, let alone a BS.
The maintaince fees are already covered by repairs and buying SB's and NB's to replace those used. Any more things to buy or pay for would bankrupt a freelancer and not everyone who's on the sever wants to be in a faction, this would penalise new players and it would drive them away from the server cos no-one is gonna want to part with their cash to help newbies any more if they have to pay these kind of fees.

Freelancer is not a MMORPG, server is hardcoded, and I cannot make anything that you are talking about happen automatically. Someone would have to keep records of what is happening on server and manually edit player's accounts.
Repair price of any goods depends on its buying/selling price, which was balanced to fit buying needs. Price of one piece of equipment cannot get more than 10 million credits, so hull repair cost cannot really get higher than it is now.
Paying maitainance for capital ships is plain nonsense. No one is going to do that, and I have doubts about introducing costs for systems too.
AW-Eldfrey watch your spelling.

I fully agree with Igiss.
Implementing that in game would be dificult because we cant automatize the process.
And putting someone 24/7 to check that the rule is being followed is not a good idea. Let alone editing all the account manually.

As I said it would only be used for RP so freelancers wouldn't be affected (unless they are a merc). Also having the taxes from your system given to you allows you to not have to pay for it all (if any). and as I wrote you get 20 million dollars per system and it costs 20 million dollars to "repair" a destroyed battleship. The prices could change I guess, and the only people making sure they do the write thing are the faction leaders.
yes lets try to make this clear The Repair and Matinace would only aply to when you are ROLE PLAYING not when you are just out enjoying your self on the game but when you are farther progressing a story.
IF you guys are going to be in the role-play , you definetely need to re-arrange your fleets, especially for faction conflicts. Actually a real fleet is composed of varoius ships. USA has only 9 Nimitz class carriers - 4 are active and battle-rady. A big country like USA has such a number of BIG ships in its fleet, so a small group of around max 10 people will be very strange to have 10 BS active and in a battle. A good fleet of 10 people for example should be composed of 1 flagship-BS class,2-3 cruser/destroyer class ships , 2-3 gunboats , and the rest - fighters. That way it will be more reallistic and acceptable. Anyways you do what you want for your role-play.
"Comm. Adama:
-Starbuck whadda 'ya hear?
Starbuck:
-Nothing but the rain sir!
Comm. Adama:
-Then grab your gun and bring in the cat!
Starbuck:
-Boom , boom , boom!"

My characters: - =BSG=Starbuck ; Maj. Kara Thrace(fighter pilot)
- =BSG=Galactica ; Commander Lee Adama(Battlestar)
- =BSG=Helo ; Lt. Karl Agathon (bomber)
- Colonial 795 (trader)
ur forgetting that USA is a mere piece of a planet, whereas Liberty Space is a piece of a galaxy :D
we cant really compare fleets in space to fleets we have on earth.
Well I usually like having cruisers in my fleets. At the moment I think we have about 4-5. 2 being missile cruisers that are often at major fighter engagements.
