I wake up, morning visit in the bathroom, SAMICH, I go "view new posts" and see, that RM went hostile. Was I supposed to skype alec and tellm it's a silly idea and to call his guys off coz we ain't gonna play ball?
Hardly.
. Truth be told, i actually consider this one of the better developments of Disco diplomacy. I was kinda just ranting about generalities. My viewpoint is a bit more biased towards....corporate.
EDIT: That is, if it is nice and short like you guys promise. Scuffles happen. War embargoes hurt economies quite badly.
gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|
And I say: go and have fun guys - even at my expense. I had a transport with Cobalt Ore shot down by the RM the other day - did not know about this conflict at the time.
I would like to commend you for making a thread like this - in fact it should be mandatory for conflicts like this. For us causal players, that has a life outside the game and the forum, it is next to impossible to stay up to date otherwise. A thread like this - IMO - was sadly missed in the Corsair - Zoner conflict. I still do not know how that confict ended - and what consequenses it had.
You should all be aware however this thread alone does not wipe out the problems concerning the information about the game (politics et all). F.x.: In-game (iRP) I asked a =CR=-guy, where the Corsairs were in this conflict - they are after all allied to the CR according to the ID-infochart. "That's obselete!", he said.
WHAT?? If we no longer can trust the ID-info, then it will almost be impossible to enter this game for new players. Especially when you consider the harsh reactions of the admins.
So come 4.86 I think it is VERY IMPORTANT, that the ID's, infocards in cargoholds - and ABOVE ALL - the Wiki gets updated - and stays updated.
In fact IMO no agreement, edict, deal, trade/mine restriction or anything else of permanent consequense for players should be valid without being included in the Wiki in its final form. Published here is not enough. Everything drowns in endless comments.
I hope you all understand that indies are the new blood to the Disco Freelancer. Do not scare us away by making this a closed club for forum nerds.
Did I tell you, that I am proud of being an indie?
Zukertort
EDIT: By the way: even as an indie I can realise the RP potential for this conflict. Fantastic! Maybe we will even see CAP actions between RM and the IMG-alliance?
' Wrote:Quick question, reading the above. If you are not agreeing with the type of RP that is being done on Discovery (not just the Omegas) - why are you here? Plenty of nonsense to go around but remember people are just trying to have fun in a loose framework.
Just because I don't agree with all of it, doesn't mean I don't enjoy myself at times. Do read what I posted, I encouraged all involved to have fun multiple times.
' Wrote:What you have expressed a desire for isn't a role play environment. It is a sandbox, which only further proves my point.
A sandbox in which the players do what they should in a RPG (since that's basically what this mod is): They freely play their role. Ergo, role play environment. The factions, instead of pseudo-RPing along an already given string of events, form their own politics and make their own decisions.
@Daedric
There are no gamemasters in Discovery.
It is something we are missing.
The mod updates, with a storyline, usually act as Gamemaster type things.
The last one was 2.5 years ago.
2.5 years of no gamemasters.
Complaining to factions that they are making non-sensical RP and then not explaining your point will only result in you looking very silly, very immature and just annoying.
Either explain your point or stop ranting, it's just filling this useful thread with useless posts.
