1. How exactly would each new ad get placed into a specific spot in space?
2. And would this influx of new game objects in space cause a lot of lag? (Like the floating ore used to while mining).
' Wrote:you might be describing the old time in freelancer universe, but today are a lot of privet company "unofficial faction" that can use somthing like this to hire people "new players".
the dev can put somthing in exchange for small ads payment, this could work for the faction that cant get to recruit in forum.
It will also work for unlawfull to put ads for thier othere less iligal operation, like bars and chop shop.
I would so go for a Vagrant Raiders floating asteroid billboard

Well, if one could buy a ad like that of a base, that would be pretty cool. But, if not then it would be simply a matter of having a having a few billboards placed around a system, and purchasing ad space on one of them. The ads would be put on a timer and rotatated, which I am pretty postive can be done. They could be placed in the game in large bulk, when a update comes out, or several small ones. Its not really hard to change them, it takes less then a minute in the modeler. I dont know about game implementation. It shouldn't cause any lag, especially if there are only 4 or so in a system, with a rotation of ads. It would essentially be like a satelight or station wreck that is already in the game.

I do like this idea.
At the moment I use set message advertisements on my DHC- hauler, but it'd be nice to have a way to advertise visually.
It could also be used for recruitment purposes (independents too, darn it!), by letting people know security firms/pirate groups that are hiring new hands, or what-have-you.
Yes, pirate groups. Why wouldn't there be signs by unlawful stations?
