I found the problem. FL's resolutions are dictated by the monitor drivers. The max allowed resolution is what the monitor supports. Example: I told my PC that I had a generic 1600x1200 flatscreen, and then FL allowed me to use that resolution. I cannot use that one, however, as my monitor only physically goes to 1280x1024.

ok,my pc know that my monitor has 1680x1050, other games can run in that resolution,my screen has this resolution, but freelancer still no. so you are sure that is by monitor drivers? i buy monitor maybe 2 months ago and instal the lattest drivers.

Yes, I'm sure. The only reason FL won't run in that resolution is that it isn't a native resolution for the game. FL came out before the advent of computers using non-4:3 aspect ratios, I believe. Like someone said in the previous page, non-4:3 will lose the HUD if you set that in Perfoptions.INI.

The other reason is that your monitor is too new. FL came out a long time ago.

Scroll down to [Display] section, add values into "size" parameter that you need.

Keep in mind though that non 4:3 resolutions will have screwed up HUD.

Awesome tip, worked like a charm for me!

Looks like you guys have resolved most of it.... I will add a few cents of my own.
TO calculate what you can run, make sure you use a 4:3 aspect ration for regular screen monitors.

for 1280 width, you will be using 1280 x 1280(0.75) = 1280 x 960
for 1400 width, you will be using 1400 x 1400(0.75)= 1400 x 1050
If you do not follow that aspect ration, you will find your shield bar'n stuff not lining up properly with the overlayed graphics.

Also look through that ini file and find something called Advanced Graphics = 0.0 (If it is 0.0 change it to 1.0).

Hope this helps.
PEACE.
