Still, the Lane Hackers are the most... Secure of factions anyway! We design security systems, hacking protocols and so-on. Realistically, how would a Freelancer steal from us?
In my opinion, move to another ship. If you want a gunboat, try getting the IMG one (make sure it's rped, though). It has better turret placement and is quite hard to hit front-on.
' Wrote:Camtheman, why not try to write an interesting RP Story about how your character got his/her ship? It would explain a lot, and it would also let the rest of us know how he/she got the LH Gunship through a bribe!
He can write a story but does it mean anything if he can't "buy" a ship without ooRP docking? It doesn't.
As Robert said, better find another ship like IMG one for your freelancer idea.

The list of conceivable reasons why any non Lane Hacker would receive permission from Moriarty to purchase one of those Gunships is so small that it might as well not even exist.
If you aren't even an Outcast, the list gets even smaller. The Rogues and Mollys have their own gunboat.
Buying one without a Hacker tag and ID is just begging the LH clan to put you on our hunting list.
And Del, with answers like those you must be angling to become my new best friend.
The idea of anyone being able to steal from the Lane Hackers is as ridiculous as an Outcast giving up Cardamine, or a Xeno taking a bath.

This thread stinks of "I want that ship, what can I do to get it?". That isn't the way you should be looking at this. Character comes first. Think about what your character is and where he/she is going. THEN see which ships are available to you.
This server isn't about getting the best ship and flying around parading yourself. "Look at me, I have an awesome ship!!!!!11". Give me a break. If anything it should be "Look at my roleplay, it's awesome!". Your response to "... but the RP should be better than 'I stole it' " really takes the cake. Give the man a medal. Seriously, to come up with what he said AND sound childish about it is a feat most of us would fail in accomplishing. "I bribed them! Bribe bribe bribe..." Well done Sir, you truely are an idiot.
I should be in bed now, but I couldn't ignore this thread. It makes me sick to my stomach when I see people like this, who don't even realise the point of the server, actually playing when I can't.
Unless you can come up with a brilliant RP story about why your character can fly the ship...and no, "Bribe!!!" doesn't cut it at all...I wouldn't recommend you buy the ship and fly it. We're looking for something solid, at least 3-5 posts, with a few paragraphs per post. And paragraph=around 5 good sentences.

I see Freelancing as it's in SP. You start with the worst ship, and you slowly advance.
Work for Liberty or Brettonia, for Kusari or Rheinland, but please - start in a fighter.
Try to earn the credits with freelancing work, instead of simply transferring it from your 'connections'.
Being rich beats the purpose of being a Freelancer.
And you need to be rich to buy anything bigger then a Bomber.
Freelancer that gets rich goes to.. Baden Baden or Curacao, marries and starts a family.

the basic thought of disco is to keep it freelancer of course. - so no ship from no faction, from LF to BB should be completely restricted to others. - with that in mind, you have of course a chance to fly whatever ship you like - provided everyone who reads your story will agree that you can do it.
i don t care for several paragraphs actually or so many RP story pages like a whole novel, - but when i read the story, i d like to think to myself "oh, my - he really must fly that ship, not only cause he ( the char ) wants but also cause its the only choice he can do for what he is doing."
i am sure you can come up with a good idea of why it is this ship you have to fly. ( i don t agree with hackers being allknowing about everything - having access to most datafiles doesn t mean knowing all. it means to be able to ( with serious efford ) - but doesn t mean they are gods with superior powers ) - it is possible to infiltrate and steal from the hackers, no doubt. as much as its possible to infiltrate and steal from the LSF who are quite professional when it comes to secretkeeping, too. ( and people stole not only one battleship from them, but actually two )
so, no security system is foolproof. - but if you create a story about theft and bribes, which can be good stories indeed, - make it so that the reader is offered something. and - like i said before - the story must not end with the purchase....
... actually, what you write to "GET" the ship is only the prelude, the REAL story just begins at chapter 1, once you get the ship.... and we expect many more chapters:laugh:
