Traders with Corsair or Outcast (or any pirate) weapons are an entirely different issue... Completely OORP unless they have the proper unlawful tag and a Smuggler ID. That's sanctionable.

Cerbs are available to anyone, and there's no RP reason why someone wouldn't use them if they were better... As they are, currently.

I have three gunboats, two corsair, one rheinland..I currently use two cerbs on two of those, including the RLGB, and one cerb on the last gunboat with 5 order turrets and two solaris guns. Thats 31.5k damage per second there, and 35.3k with my other corsair gun. About the same with the RLGB except it can't fire for as long especially with the Main gun...So the problem is not within the weapon itself, but those who spam it, right? Just double the energy useage and that'll fix the problem while still making them a viable weapon for prolonged engagements.

I dont use the Cerebus turrets on my Rogue gunboat and will not. My reason is not because I dont want want to be a spammer (actually wasnt aware of the power drop till I read this), my reason is cosmetic. I cant stand the way they look on my ship, which is my personal choice. So my ship isnt as powerful as it could be, and it does get destroyed more than I like at times. But this is a game and meant to be fun, the people that exploit items like this should re-evaluate why they play. The turrets are available everywhere, including my home base of Montezuma. There is no RP reason not to use them, but until fixed maybe limit there usage as others stated.

my message is go and have fun and stop worrying what everyone else is doing.

I think it is asking too much for people to voluntarily nerf their own loadouts. Look at the number of people on this thread who are justifying their position e.g. "I've only got 3", "I've always used them". Please don't waste time like this.

Look around at all ships of all sizes. People look at stats on equipment. People use the best they can afford. It is one of the fascinating parts of the game.

Those turrets are widely available. People are not using guns which are faction specific or anything.

It is a simple mistake that they currently have the power to damage ration that they do.

Is it lame everyone has the same optimized loadout? A bit. But most people use the same set of shields and armour.
Is it desiable? No.
Is it going to get fixed? Yes.
Is it worth getting heated about? Not in my opinion.

Our characters are not idiots. The stats as they are represent a ficitional world.
In that world the Cerb is the best gun. It is OORP for people to nerf their own loadout.
Just as much as it would be to say "I only like level 7 shields".

I agree with everone who says it should be balanced in the next release but until then let people use whatever equipment is available.

It is the only way to be at peace. Otherwise everone ends up either justifying themselves or claiming to be more virtuous than the next. This is just too devicive.

Just for the record I don't fly gunboats at all.


I'm sure AoM is just about to agree with me. :D

1. What does "heavily abusing cerberus turret" mean?
Since when it is abusing, to use regular equipment? Cerberus turrets are available everywhere so no one will be out of roleplay when using them. Also afaik there is no rule, which contains a Cerberus turret mount limit, indifferent how many energy they need.

In dependence to question 1
2. What is the reason for this discussion?
Will these current cerberus turrets make others useless? Before arguing this way all of you should think about armour upgrade lvl 1 - 7, Transport turrets lvl 1 - 3, all minedroppers below the nuke, all Missiles below the canonball, firestalker and paralyzer, all basic Light Fighters, all Heavy Fighters, the Rhino, Mule and Clydesdale, all low lvl faction weapons, basic capship turrets and so on.
Is it about the gamers, gaining an advantage by using these Cerberu's? I would do the same. There is absolutely no RP reason to keep the hands away from the Cerberus turrets. If anyone has personally reasons, (s)he has to live with beeing outgunned and absolutly no rights to blame others for.

This thread accompanied by many of the rule discussion threads posted last days, cause one effect only: It spoils the fun of playing this game.

Btw, the Cerberus GB turret hasn't a small energy consumption to the damage it deals. It is going the other direction. It deals to much damage for the energy consumption.

I think, that it's about all gunboat weapons.

Tried the regular GB turrets lik the IMG one.

All 6 firing and zero energy drain. Complete of potential (consupmtion could be larger witha tad upped damage output), compared to a GB's fighting style (that gives the pilot time to regen during evasive manouvers.

Cerb - higher energy drain

Others - same with more damage

Please don't take anything I say as a critisism of your or your post. It is easy to get a sense of injustice if people don't play by your "rules". You do need to realise that people in games (as in life) will try to do their best to win within their own rules.

To some people, Discovery is a game where the objective is to kill as many others as possible. To do this you need the absolute best equipment money can buy.

Luckily, as you get older your definition of the game, and therefore winning, changes. I win if I have fun... and lose if I get angry or annoyed at others.

I'll get down from my pulpit now. :$

I just wanted to stop in and say.

Let the cerb spammers enjoy it while it lasts, let them be the cool kids on the block with a cookie cutter.

Lets support this while it lasts in the right ways.
