When discovery will have turret steering, the true pvp will die.All good pvpers will agree with me.
Now i understand the common statement on HHC "go pwn discovery noobs".Too bad HHC is almost dead, diacovery was the last place where i thought i could pvp proper,AND rp.Hell,i always liked RP.
I can learn how to use it.Everyone can.It is much simpler than learning to fly normally. But I wont.Because it is ugly, disgracefull and outeageous to me.Only noobs who played fl for 1-2 years and got pwned hard at pvp will be happy to use it.Try to learn to fly normally and youll see it will take a good 3-4 years to be a decent pvper.use this and you will get the hang of it in max 1-2 months and be decently good.thats why i hate it.It gives noobs a huge advantage and makes them nearly as good as the best pvpers with turret steering.Zooming at extrwme distances and barely moving your cursor doessnt demand any skill. It takes 1-2 years to get decent aim and +5years to get really good aim.proven fact.see now the difference?true pvp means when both players actually pvped ffor some time and where skill helps you win a pvp,not where luck and better setup helps you win.

but i really want it for gunboats and caps.thw actual pvp for caps ia not diverse at all, light bs runs from the heavy battleahip and fires backwards and strafe.the heavy battleahip charges the light one.how cool is that?

as i said,RIP. true pvp,welcome noobish pvp.

If any of you wants to contact me,add me on skype and I'll speak to you.

1. Turret view steering wasn't meant to be effective for fighters. And I very much believe it isn't. In any case steps will be taken so that it does not significantly change the way fighters are flown.

2. Turret view steering will change the way freighters and up are flown.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. The HHC players screaming about "proper PVP" and "discovery noobs" yet being extremely insulted by something that adds an advantage only vs one pvp style (HHC style = Eagle outturning 1vs1 ) make me smile.
If you indeed are awesome then you will be just as awesome even with turret steering.

TBH in just about any encounter with this type of players they usually die the most stupid death (ex. eating own nuke while having 3/4 off hull, eating mini while charging shieldless with 3/4 hull and full bots vs mini equipped player etc.). When they die they start spamming the chats how the guy that killed them sucks and that he should learn to pvp.

Conclusions is that anything that doesn't fit their idea of pvp is noobish/wrong etc., most likely because they aren't good at it.

Well discovery won't be turning into HHC any time soon.

Disable it just for fighters and bombers, not freighters, transports and caps

"If you practice enough in ANYTHING, you will become efficient above and beyond the limits set by those before you."

Play with what you got, get good. Everyone has access to turret steering, it's not a "noob tube" and its not OP'd. If you can get good using TS then use TS, if your better w/o then fly w/o.

The only reason why so many people think this turret steering will destroy Disco'€™s Roleplay is due to the fact that most Roleplay done is at the edge of a gun.

Its their fault for limiting it to that.

Someone and I did a test on the turret steering vs normal attacking and he preferred a non-turret steering approach. The results were pretty one sided.

Everyone thought that when cruising to catch up to someone would ruin PVP, it has not. People thought when bombers lost their ability to mount fighter guns it would ruin PVP, sadly, most people prefer a Bomber over a coded fighter, but hasn'€™t ruined PVP.

This isn'€™t a nerfing issue, it'€™s a tactical change, hopefully giving a slightly better advantage to a lone transport or heavier ship, or turret based craft to interact with another. Hopefully, this wont convince people they need a fleet of bombers to stop a train.

I'€™m sure when people become adept at turret steering, one can make a sound debate for or against it. The best part is, it'€™s an option, not a forced feature.

Meh, looked at first page and saw where the general discussion was going, so didn't read the rest of the thread.

Fighters and bombers don't need it, but ships that depend on turrets to survive, such as basically every ship freighter size up SHOULD have it.

Ships of that size aren't meant to be flown like snubcraft, it's that simple.

Fights between capital ships are going to be far more interesting now, for the simple reason that Capital ships will be better controlled, or at least they will be once people get their heads around it properly.

Hopefully the old tactic of getting up to cruise speed in a Cap from a distance, Eking and powering in with all guns blazing will die a quiet death, as well as the situation where you have two Cap ships sitting still and hammering each other.

Turret steering is totally fine people.
Besides it makes sense among anything bigger than the freighters, it makes some shipclasses ways more efficient ( most GBs ).

Also, disabling turret steering and stuff from snubs and freighters isn't really necessary, leave it, since it is supposed to be bad and NOT useful on them, nobody ( or few ) will use it. So what's the problem ?

For the first quote; it IS very useful for fighters in the recent testing stage (because of the firing arcs, better view angles ect) a lot of people WILL use it. If you thought that it was not very effective you most likely were either bad at using it or didn't use it.

For the second quote; (I like where you are going, but you missrep'd one dynamic) In its current state it will not be a forced feature ofc. BUT, it will be a given to be effective in pvp situations; so effectively, anyone who wants to be effective in pvp will pigeonholed into using it. Even if the firing arcs are fixed/changed/locked the adjustable angle of view will be a huge advantage.
