Yeah I managed to figure that out. Not entirely thrilled by the short bit I played. I don't see what's so popular about a game that's practically based around the horrible melee mechanics that were in FO3 and New Vegas. I'll give it a proper go when I get home.

Tamriel (the world) has been colonized by the Imperials (one of the human races). Every province, one for each race, has its own government, but they all answer to the centralized Empire. Skyrim is the home of the Nordics, in Morrowind the action took place on the Dark Elves island, in Oblivion, the action took place in Cyrodiil, the original Imperial province. Deadras and Aedras are demon-like creatures originating from the hellish Oblivion dimension. The Empire has spread its religion, the Nine Gods, to all the provinces, but the Nordics are still most likely worshiping their own gods, much like the Dark Elves worshiped the Tribunal in Morrowind.

That's pretty much it.
