Sea food (at least good sea food), due to its cost, is already considered a luxury food on Earth except in the parts of the planet where sea food is actually produced. So Luxury Food covers that. Rice would be a standard part of food rations I imagine, due to its ease and speed of production. So Kyushu should produce Luxury Foods and Food Rations in my opinion. But if that breaks the Luxury Food setup, it could have a rice commodity.

But going back to topic - a food commodity for Kyushu depends on whether we are talking specifics, or generalities?

Specific: Soy Meal, Rice, Wagyu Beef

General: Kusari Delicacies (description in the infocard), Kusari Staples (description on infocard).

In fact - if one were to create regional versions - these could eventually replace the Luxury Food commodity.

Moreover, actually, sea food is very easy to grow in space...has less dependence on gravity than normal plants.

You can put it in a fairly dark place, too...big tanks of it.. so what's difficult to do on earth (fish) is not what's difficult to do in, say, space (plants)

I would really like to see regional food versions. To the specific ones, i would add Wasabi. Expensive in RL, in Freelancer it should fall under the Luxury Food section so far. But as i said, regional food versions? Awesome.

That is why i reckon a solution is regional variants for Food and Luxury Food:

[House] Staples -> Food Rations
[House] Delicacies -> Luxury Food

Other specific items people are describing such as Rice, Soy, Wasabi, Seafood and so forth could be used in the infocard descriptions for each of these.

It seems natural to have regional food variants, particularly in the Freelancer economy*


*Of course in 'real' space travel one would not waste resources moving foodstuffs. One would instead move seed stock, and animals in embryo or even simple DNA form - everything is much cheaper if grown/prepared onsite from local materials.
