The Bayonet is smooth, the Gunship is not. The Bayonet has two thin Wings, the Gunship two Wings which are as fat as almost two Bayonets.

Not sure why you say that Wings make something look similar.

Well that's okay, but it doesnt look like anything else in FL either, nor does it fit with the bayonet. So can we see the new HF model too
Actually, the Broadsword is based on the Falchion model. The current gunship doesn't fit in the former Hacker line because it shares no similarities in design or in textures. Now, with the LH snub line becoming Borderworlds, I think it's a good idea to try and slightly differentiate the new gunship model while keeping some common points with the most emblematic ship's design (the Broadsword in my opinion).

It is a single wrap skin. Versus the broadswoard with the multiple components on the body skin like the nose and rear

The wings are short on both of them, not the thickness but the length, they are just wing tips not full wings.

Also they have similar design with a pair of engine intakes against the body.

To me it looks like they came from the same place. Not the same designer but the same design principles.

The broadsword is different all of these things, different school of thought entirely.

Are we playing the same Freelancer here? The proposed model looks far more fitting. Oh and you should check out the big version of that image on the wiki, the textures are low-quality too.

No need, I fly my LHGS everyday and know how it looks.

The new model just looks odd to me, and not more freelancer-ish then the current model. To my eyes it doesn't even look like it fits the former lane hacker shipline well.

The Bayonet's Wings ain't short, they are just not wide. To me the Gunship and Bayonet look do not look similar at all. It's like comparing a Cube to a Pipe with round Edges. The Broadsword on the other Side shares a lot of Similarities. You can see the Evolution going from Light Fighter, to Bomber, to Gunship

You're one of the People that don't want to change what they like. Take a look at the Broadsword and come back.

Exactly.

But, your work is very good and maybe you could actually go
and make models to replace ones that really do need to be replaced?

Like the [HF] HF one:)

Lol.

Well anyway there seems to be a debate of sorts on the pods here so how about if I close one and leave one open? >_>

I think that would be the worst of the 3 solutions. I don't mind them being open actually.

Also, nobody cares if it "doesn't fit into the Hacker line", because there is no more Hacker line. It only has to look light, sleek and high-techish.

Keep them open, but remove the flipped down Part.

The current HF fighter looks really nice, how dare you suggest replacing it. >:[

Besides, afaik, Tycho modeled that fighter as well.

On topic for the ship here.

The Lane Hacker gunship does need replacing, and this would be a decent replacement. I feel like it should be made to look a little bit heavier though, it looks a little to sleek in my opinion. Obviously Lane Hacker ships aren't going to be designed to be heavy powerhouses, but to me it feels like the bridge is just a little too thin after the triangle midsection thing.

The ship also looks a lot like a fighter, seeing as how the LH shipline is now borderworlds tech, have you thought about this ship as a fighter? It'd be a very nice one if scaling it down didn't cause any problems.

Also, the sensor pod thingies, I think they look better opened, though if they're going to stay open, I don't see the point of the lids at the bottom of the pods, they look out of place. Just my opinion. Apart from that, I'm in love with the model.
