Ok, tell me then, how
Hellfire Legion, a bunch of rogue ships, managed to survive, create shipbuilding capabilities that are technologically on par with Liberty ones, etc? Just imagine a USA CBG that went rogue into africa and started to build their own fleet thats technologically on par with USA?:lol::lol:
How the hell bunch of rogue miners (Hessians) managed to a) create capital/military shipbuilding capabilities of their own b) create capital fleet of their own
Mollies/Rogues. That isn't even funny. Where the hell did they learn to build destroyers? Anf if they can, why junkers can't.
Zoners. Olol. Few thousand (just look at population of their bases in vanilla) people that were struggling for survival in omicrons in vanilla freelancer suddenly pop out behemoths like Jinkusu. They would struggle to build a decent combat fighter that's on par with Houses!
Bounty hunters. Especially Core. Show me a commercial organisation in today's world that have enough resources to field and maintain at least one CBG, with full wing. Also replace losses. Also wage all-out war on someone in some God forsaken place. At same time. Then we'll speak.
IMG. Loosely affilated miners organisation (vanilla) with capfleet. H4h4. Mind showing me Kruger/Daumann/BMM capfleets? Or, say, British Petroleum/Exxon Mobil battlefleet?
GMG and their 80 years war, pure trolling on game creator's side.
Corsairs/Maltese, with just 1 planet (in Vanilla/85) suddenly get their hands on capfleets comparable with House ones.
Tell me how the hell Bretonia is going to survive with current odds (150 vs 30). ESPECIALLY hold Leeds, against a force that consists of 5 times larger number of significantly more powerfull vessels, that also have the best sieging capability in the whole Sirius. Also, cruiser ratio is 2000:500, afaik. Gallics can just point their fleets towards Leeds and roll over open terrain, keeping distance from asteroid fields/clouds. GG Leeds.
Did I forget anyone/anything?

Now if we add piracy and some other sources of income for the Hessians and Mollys (they have small industries in their Guard systems - remember), they probably have the resources to build mediocre capital ships.
What I said, it's perfect fine inRP and so on + I remember plenty forum threads about "a secret project".
The problem I see is the "indie overkill". But as always, it won't be changed so meh.
As long as unlawful factions use their caps to play with the House military or to slaughter each other I've no problem with it.
(However I cannot reconcile with the "bs for pirate idea" [maybe only for unioners as vanilla shipyard workers]. They could even build more cruisers inRP. But that's my opinion.)

I think it's more a matter of RP than 'statistics' ' one joins a faction because you like them or want to experience their way of life: Navies should be navies (bound by rules); Opposing nations (including outsider nations like Outcasts) should be opposition to the official worlds and Terrorists should be like terrorist (not large corporations or government backed) like Mercenaries and Bounty hunters which are more like 'Private or Unofficial armies'. The developers (god bless them) have done a stunning job to upkeep this universe (3 CHEERS).
I like the way that one can never take over (say: Leeds) stable regions, because the game will soon become a one or two faction affair. It's great that there is a universe of different life choices out there.

In my opinion I think that the number of capital ships should be restricted per faction. That would stop the lolwut fleets and force them to join a official faction and do some RP.

I like the freedom of choice in the game; and once you've chosen you must follow the RP ' to limit the amount of ships will seal off the choices we have ' people will hog the positions. It's tough enough to earn you cap ship.
If any unlawful faction got a capital ship, bigger than destroyer, for open use (Indy's free to buy it), then it means, that faction take next step from just unlawful gank, to strong organised groupe, with experienced lead and having enough resources to keep all stuf in tackt. Probably all those capital ships better be used for protection or in fight "from shelter" not for open fight against house military.
Using capital ships for pirating still big no-no :nono:Large transport ships, which are used by many corporations, sometimes, can defend themself from pirat on bomber or gunship. I doubt, that transports has any chance to escape from cruiser... not even talking about battleships.
Restrickt caps- move number last. Offical faction can restrict this usage, but not for indys. Reason, why you cant have a capital ship, just because you came to server late, and all slots are take its firstly unfair to all new players. If you want to have a capital ship- go ahead, but be ready to follow some noted rules and RP.

Not really.
People join order cuz theyre cool in SP.
People join LN for same reason and battleships.
Nobody at all joins Kusari and Bretonia first handed.
Also, game would never become 2 faction affair. There are always those to resist and such. It was, is and always will be like that. Power struggle on disco is a joke. Its just PVP fest game.
Remove bots/bats from caps, change weapons so that they wouldn't be able to hit fighters. Change bombers to huge slow torpedo boats. Change torpedoes to slow huge dildos of doom. That way fighters will fly fighters and caps will fight caps, unless one side decides to use bombers and that'd mean fighters are necessary and a good fleet battle happens.
' Wrote:It seems odd that some of the more desperate factions like the Corsairs are able to have capital ships when they could better invest their money in building transports for artifact smuggling or buying more food. In fact, pirates and terrorists having capital ships in general confuses me. Very few terrorist groups have large sources of income and I doubt pirates make enough money from piracy to build capital ships. I'm even confused about how lawful factions like the Order have the money to build capital ships.
I totally agree 100%
Please turn all non house navy capships into big clumsy transports.
