Nay.

There are plenty of routes that go in circles, like the New London Manhattan Triangle. I know that's counterintuitive...

To further clarify, I meant that the most profitable routes by a far margin would be the ones that went in largish loops around Sirius. IMO that would completely discourage even lazy traders from going on back-and-forth routes since the loops would clearly be making more money and would be more interesting.

As for me, the route I usually take is from Omicron Beta to Texas and then to New York, then back to Beta again.

I voted nothing because I really don't care... to date a bunch of pirates tried to get me, none succeeded - heck there was even one in his kusari destroyer trying to run at me, another time a liberty destroyer... should have taken screen but didnt knew of these rules at the time...

beside, trading is boring... after a while of that tour loop, you'd get bored as well. and pirate? well, they can simply do the whole route in the other way round.

My trader does a loop that takes me through Liberty, bretonia, kusari, Reinland, bretonia, and Liberty again...

Takes about 30mins to 45mins and I can make up to 30million each time. (it varies)

The biggest thing is to never fly empty.

Nay.

If we made all the routes go in loops, youd be making a pirates life much more easier.
He can just sit and wait.
And wait
And wait
Hey look, a trader convoy! *poof*.

Allso, there are plenty of "all-around" trade routes at the moment. And there are some others, perfect the way it is.

Voted yes, becuase I personally found a few loops. Try trading between Alpha, NY, Dublin, Gamma and NY again. Great run...

And there's nothing better than an ever-changing scenery, loads of mapping, income on every docking.

Voted...Yes

It is not problem with trade routes.. there is richer trade routes than NB-NT-NB... but
this is the fastest one....
No need for new trade routes just re-balance certain price...eg. Niobium in Bretonia costs more than Kusari (Kusari has symbolic price like 280 or something)and in Rheinland it has symbolic price too , But Diamonds from Rheinland remain best priced in Kusari...or something simmilar.... so Traders can't have same return route with big earnings.. and they are forced to loops through Sirius..

YARRR ...

P.S. Pirating should be exclusively done by fighters ...maybe bombers... looping trade routes would revive Bretonia, all parts of Rheinland except NB, same with Kusari (except NT )and Liberty (except NY)... if this holds up taxes should be maxed to 1 mill... because 4 mills that I heard the other day is anti RP and foolish

I'm honoured that this topic has been made over an idea put forward by little old me. Increasing the profit margin for loop trade runs could help things.

However, I cant disagree more strongly with things said by Spoiled. Pirating trains is not practical in a fighter. They do not have the fire-power to intimidate, or if necessary destroy cargo trains singlehandedly. Trains escape while you are typing demands, or desperately trying to scratch their hulls even slightly. The only way this works is in large packs... and if a trader sees a large pack of pirates in the system he's about to jump into, he'll choose another path.
Limiting taxes at 1 mill is also a ridiculous idea whichever way you spin it. You have to work damn hard to get money out of a trader through taxing, and should expect a decent reward from it. 2 or 3 million credits tax is still less than 40 percent of a Large Train's normal profit per cargo-load. This is "pay or die", not the M6 Toll-road. If I'm trading along, making 10 mill every 10 minutes, I'm not going to give a damn weather a pirate takes 1 mill off me and then leaves me alone for the rest of the day. The point of a high tariff is to put traders in a position where they REALLY don't want to be pirated. That way, they might put up a fight, or a really good chase, rather than sitting there limply and handing over a couple of pennies to the local beggar.
Traders already have an advantage...half of the time, Cruise Disruptors don't track, and at any time they like, a trader can speed-dock to safety.
Lets also not forget that the majority of these binge-traders do so purely so that they can get their big Battleship and go cruising around the server pretending they own the place, with little to no RP whatsoever; an issue that is often raised and moaned about.
I personally don't think it should be harder to make money...BUT I do not think we, as pirates, should ever feel responsible for making traders lives easier by reducing taxes to small-change, and by using ships that don't have a hope of being perceived as a threat. You make everyone's game better by allowing everyone to make HIGH PROFIT at HIGH RISK. Capitalism at it's best.

Ehm... you need the right loadout for pirating.. which can be a bit different than for fighter PVP.

Now this will be a bit of bragging but anyway:

- I have pirated dozens of traders in a LF (Slipstream) true that the 6 slots give it more firepower than other LFs have, but Scimitair has 4 + forward firing turret also, you need nuke mines as well.
With this one I was able to pirate up to a Container Transport alone - more times.

- In a VHF.. with the right setup I can pirate anything.. usually without losing any bots/bats.. depends on how patient you are.. and how much time you have.

The biggest advantage of pirating in a fighter is that you can always get away... when a few GBs and up come to defend the trader.

@spoiled?

1mil only????

When I meet an Adv. Train on lvl 80.. that means he has some 400 million... and every trader run gives him around 5 more. Now I should ask this guy for 1 mil??

Exactly as Carlos said.. it's "pay or die" not a toll road.
