Wouldn't it be great if disco devs were emplyed as Star Citizen devs?

Only thing that will kill disco is people stop logging in. Star Citizen will have too high system requirements to do this right away, but if it has reasonable gameplay the hardware limit will be overcome within a year or two.

Not really. Not trying to sound like an A-hole but most of this thing is made from members of the community. Anyone can come up with a tad bit of story, and making a few models isn't likely to land you a job.

So the spiritual successor and replacement for Freelancer won't replace freelancer?

Same here SC will be on very very high end comp possible to play ...mby they optimize it who know but still it will be a long time till my current wallet capacity can handle it Big Grin

Official server of Discovery mod, running since June 2005 and I was there when it was opened and it was very cool seeing something different from vanilla for change and it lasted till today always over 150+ people active

Robert said SC will be possible for moding, game will be buy and play with shop features to maintain the funds for financing all the weekly updates game will have ...something similar most of mmorpg's are doing today ,for example league of legends like or Guild Wars 2 Wink

Yes, because Battlefield 3 killed the Battlefield 2 servers. Age of Empires 2 servers totally died when AOE3 came out. Rome TW servers died when Medieval 2 came out. Whenever a new game comes out active servers suddenly die because there's something new.

Havent looked at the long-term stats, but I dont think the overall disco population has decreased, only that of discogc. There are other servers like the russian and aussie and starworld ones that at least seem to be growing.

I have a friend who bought this game when it first came out, when he was a kid. Now, it still has a working community and loyal players. He was surprised to see it was still up, says he anticipated it to die in a few months after he stopped playing.

That's whats happening here. Disco isn't going anywhere.

I've decided to leave.

Need to contact me? My skype is verbalartistsaan

Goodbye.

As a long term FL/Disco player, I don't believe that Star Citizen is going to "Kill" Discovery.

People have been pointing out "Disco Killer" games and other reasons for Disco's "Imminent demise" since 2008, and probably before. It's still here, and so am I.

Sure, some people will go to SC because their computers can handle it, and others will stay here because their computers can't, BUT, Some people with good machines will also remain here as well.

Sure, if I ever get a nice computer, I'll go play Star Citizen, but I don't see me leaving Disco for it.
