Hi everybody !

As a Freelancer fan, and a Discovery fan (of course), I wanted to host a private server over the Internet.

I doesn't work on 4 computers (3 of mine, running win 7 x64, win 7 x86, win xp x86 + one of my friend running win 7 x64).

First, what we've done on every computer:
- IPv6 desactivated (registry thing + Tunneling thing desactivated in device manager) + Router IPv6 Option OFF
- Opened ports via NAT on our routers + uPNP Activated
- Changed "hostname=" in freelancer.ini (switched to fixed global server list one, and both (localhost + fixed))
- Updated FLHook
- Allowed "flserver", "freelancer" and "directplay8" server through firewall + opened 2300-2304 + 6073 throught the firewall
- Desactivated my router's internal firewall
- Tried to entierly desactivate Firewall (The Windows one)
- Tried to entierly desactivate AV (Microsoft Security essential / Avast)
- Tried to DMZ the server (all request on the router went to my PC)

We can see each others on the server list, but we've got ???? (which change after a while to - -) as ping and it doesn't want to connect.

I've got an additionnal problem : flsever doesn't want to use port 2302, even if i force it to do so, whereas the server is running on the right port on my friend's computer. Plus, it seems to change every time i launch it.

I'm unable to connect via the -s127.0.0.1 nor -s192.168.1.43...

Here comes my netstat result for flserver.exe :

Don't know if this will help, but are you running the server by clicking flserver.exe or are you using DSProcessManager.exe?

DSProcessManager will automatically start your server and add the command line switches to have it use port 2302 and supress the dialog about Server name, description, number of players and such. If you aren't using DSProcessManager, you can google it. Also, you need to be on the host machine's Administrator account. Not an administrator account, but the Administrator account.

And the Freelancer list will always show LAN servers even if you chose Internet. Internet displays both, LAN displays only LAN. Well, in the Discovery Mod it doesn't seem to matter. It still shows the Discovery servers that have been put on the list by posting in the "How to get your server listed" thread.

The client will always show servers on the Local LAN even if you have selected internet.

I uncommented the hostname entry in my freelancer.ini and the only 16 player discovery 4.86 server I saw was matafult.com and it requires a password and shows a ping of --. The obvious question is "is your firewall letting Freelancer through?" If it is, I don't know what to tell you.

It is probably router-modem or ISP related.

Just had a thought. If your server is connected to a router, make sure your port forwarding is correct. If that's not configured properly, The router doesn't know where to send the incoming packets for port 2302.
