About the global server, is it down? I just found the other way to connect but didn't know about it before so I just stopped playing all together, but if my old account is recoverable I'd be most thankful, since it had a considerable amount of cash and a small collection of codenames.

Microsoft has withdrawn it's support for Freelancer, as a result the Global sever is no longer available, somewhere on this site there's a link to the Global Server Workaround.

As for your accounts suggest you talk to an Admin directly and see what they can do.

If you have alerady downloaded version 4.84, then you can use the Freelancer RP Server shortcut that comes with the mod. It direct-connects you to the server automatically, just replace your desktop shortcut with the mod shortcut. You can connect vie LAN or Internet mode in FL with it.

You can also use the server list on xfire. That's what I do, I put Disco on my Favorites, so I just click the little button on the xfire screen and I'm flying in space!
