So what about people getting framerates around 180 just by having a good rig?
It's certainly not their fault that Freelancer can't handle that framerate.
FPS is limited to the screen refresh rate (Hz), which is normally at ~60 or, if you got a 3D screen, at 120. So, unless you force (!) V-Sync to be off (it's ON normally, with no way to turn it off via Freelancer itself), there will not be a computer running the game at more than the respective screen refresh rate. (There is a bug when switching between window mode and fullscreen mode though, which might, I'm not completly sure, also enable the game to run at more than that.)

Not true, you need software to disable vsync to get that high fps.
I consider it cheating:
Quote:2.1 Following actions are considered cheating on server:
- Using non-Discovery mods, speed-related and loot-related mods especially, as well as using modifications that improve stats of items and ships;
- Changing account information and using any kinds of software that changes normal gameplay;
- Using any equipment not included for sale/looting in Discovery mod.
- Using equipment that exceeds ship specs;
- Cloning, e.g. creating new characters to collect starting money;
- Single player having more than one instance of Discovery open to fly their own characters;
- "Suicide Trading".
This post explains soooo much... I see this crap on an almost daily basis with certain groups of people and it's extremely frustrating. Even when you see direct impacts with your weapons nothing happens at all (assuming you can hit them). I've gotten to were I don't even try any more. I just cut my engines and sit there until it's over because it isn't fun to try and fight someone doing this crap.

if your weapons have an impact on the target but they don't register damage, than it is not -jitter-.
It's lag on your side, instead. Not even the server side as it would register the hit, just take some time to actually see the damage is does.

You cant accidentially get that because your PC is too good, aerelms explanation should tell you why. If Im right Freelancer sets FPS somewhere at 60, everything above that needs work on the graphics card drivers.

Funny because I tend to suddenly develop lag mid fight randomly, sometimes I dont at all, sometimes I lags just as the fight starts.
