I'm afraid fresh start would provide fresh start to hackers too, my friend. Even more to common cheaters, multiboxers and who knows who...
Damn, I'm taking this game too serious for years, but I can't help my self! Gr!

Hmm, if the server would get a roll back of like 2 months, than I can start the whole game over, since I started at the begin of the holiday... I just can't get my hands of this awesome game... But yes, get the hackers with any means necessary!!!
And psst Agmen; weren't you an admin before..? I remember your name from 4.85
If it came down to having the admins spend hours and hours sorting through the logs and tracking each and every item, and having the server wiped/restarted. I would honestly vote for the server to be wiped. I know that everyone is sitting there gasping in horror over this idea but honestly.. its just a game. It puts EVERYONE back on even ground. Yes, I say this with characters/accounts that have high level ships, battle ships and millions invested in each and every one. So if put to a vote, count me in for having the server reset.
You can't stop hackers by doing a server wipe or rollback, those who think they can are seriously computationally illiterate! Why well doing a server wipe or roll back will not plug those weaknesses in the server that led to the hackers taking control in the first place.
If you just rollback/wipe the server without addressing the security weaknesses of the server, then the hackers will just come back and do the same things again.
So player effort / time will be lost for nothing.
The only ones that can solve this problem are Cannon and techies who will have to figure how the hackers accessed server files and then make them more secure, either thru encrypting files or firewalling them.
While speaking to Doj on Skype he told me one of the base hunter / DPC group is in fact a serving Admin, if this is true then that means the Admin have been compromised and that may also be an issue that will have to be dealt with.
This would also explain how they may have easily gained access to server critical files via inside help, when I asked Doj why this admin didn't just sabotage the server files himself. Doj said that would expose their admin contact as all admin actions are recorded but this in itself is still disturbing if true.

The admins are already doing that for the past few days.
Also, just to clarify to everyone once and for all, and I'm really, really sorry in advance for the mental picture, but:
The anticheat and the server are not the same thing. Wiping the server/rollbacking won't help prevent more hacks.
You see, think of the anticheat as the skin of your body and the server as the inside, specifically, your stomach. Altough the skin protects your body, you can still get inside it via your mouth or nose or less usual places. What happened here is that the rotten food (hackers) entered the stomach (the server) through the mouth or other orifice in the skin (the gaps in the anticheat system). You can either hope your body's defenses deal with the rotten food while you agonize until you get better (admins), or you can go and puke (server wipe / rollback). Puking may stop the rotten food, but it won't do anything to prevent rotten food from entering your body via the mouth or... other orifices. And that is exactly what is going on here.
The admins are patching the anticheat system to prevent further hacker incursions, and the rollback will only be done in case not all cheated items and credits can be found, which is very plausible since not only people first accepted stuff believing it was a donation, but later even when it was revealed as a cheating, a lot of people kept accepting it.
So there you go: rollback to remove all cheated items, compeltely unrelated to future hacker attempts. Only reason why no decision has been made yet is because if they rollback or wipe without patching and fixing the anticheat, the hacks will happen again.

Capisce?
Apart from having nightmares about your orifices, I kapeesh
