As for me personally, they're dead and don't need it. 'You can't take it with you' as the old saying goes.

Oh, and I think you'll find that theres a few class 9s that do more damage over time or have better damage to energy ratios then codenames.
heh, didnt notice that i guess
and can you send me a PM regarding those class 9s that do better than Codies?

Nope, cos I'm not sure if they've been altered in the year I was absent:)

If I do find any I'll make a list, or you could just scan my [TAZ] or Novapg characters a see what I'm using.

Oh, I must remember to say that I pity any of the GC who have a griffen and are using GC class 9s on it.

You poor, poor buggers.

Thank you for RPing with your weps, and sorry they kill your powerplant in record time while barely turning floating rocks into dust (tried just two class 9 GC guns on my novapg griffen, the shots are so small you'll be firing through the cracks in the broadside of a barn and missing).

I do, my trader and my GB go skiing together and are friends, my camera guy has done photo work for my trader, my RoS guy has robbed my trader to get money. So they are all interconnected in some way.

I have edited my first post if anybody wants to read it, it's the second post of this thread.

[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.

In the "real world" as well as in a fictional Science Fiction world, there certainly would be a "Jane's Weapons and Fighters of Space" or a "Jane's Complete Book of Ship Mountable Ordinance" and in those books there would be detailed descriptions of power, penetration and requirements for a large variety of equipment.

This information would clearly define that X is objectively better than Y for a variety of reasons, some of which are entirely applicable within the confines of the Freelancer game and others that are only RP aspect. (Such as quality of the weapons regarding potential jams and what-not.)

In a universe, such as presented in Freelancer, where one can never really know if that blip on their radar is truly friend or foe and what kind of threat that blip is capable of being, I can see in "Real World" or Role-Play terms how and why someone would invest in a scanning device that could provide pretty full details of the vessel and weapon/defensive loadout that is present.

In such a situation, assuming that connections are fairly standard, one could expect either a Black Market trading captured or "brand new" weapons being traded to faction members that otherwise would be unable to land in an "enemy" port.

Now, this Black Market Trading wouldn't necessarily mean that a given ship with 5 hardpoints would have 5 identical or even same unaligned faction weapons mounted.

I would imagine that such Black Market trading would be illegal and possibly carry hefty fines, for example a Liberty Aligned Trader mounting Corsair weapons could be considered by the authorities to be supporting piracy, even if the Trader "claims" to have taken them from destroyed Corsair attackers.

Of course, there could be special licenses that could allow one to carry such weapons, which could only be purchased at Guard System Outposts and then be traded to another player to then be mounted in their vessel, sort of like IDs or other elements.

Anyway... These are just a handful of somewhat random thoughts.

I use a loadout of codies on my ship. Before you start the yelling, hear me out.

My character is an agent of the LSF (the NPC faction, not the PC faction). As such, he is entitled to the best weaponry that High Command can make or buy. The codies were requisitioned from Stores, and mounted on my ship. (//in other words, I looted them, but my RP of that is LSF command issued them to my ship.)
I rarely use them in player-to-player engagements, and have only two player kills to my name. (one was mounting a load of PG changuns...)

//Also, that char flies a bomber.

That's my two bits, call me OORP if you will, but I'm sticking with my guns, as it were.
