A very interesting concept indeed. The Grau Family would support such an idea, but would not be willing to join. We are proud to be Junker, make no mistake, and will gladly assist fellow Junkers in need; but we are too independent to have a body over us make decisions as to who is our enemies and friends.

We have worked at achieving good relations with certain factions, which could be jeopardized if a congress feels our friends should become enemies.

As far as aggression goes, I have indeed seen it. Hersteller was killed by a pirate in Magellan, though it was an independent pirate and not a hacker. When I wanted vengeance no bh would help because bh view us all as evil pirates.

When we do some cardi runs the group we see the most is ROS. I have found that as long as I leave with their product we are left alone. Other than that people are pretty cool.

We strive to be neutral with all, and only have 2 declared enmies (xenos and hogosha) and 2 Undeclared ones. The rest we are either friendly or neutral. So most leave us alone.

So, yeah, if we see a Junker in need, we will help, but we will not seek membership of such a congress.

You bring up an excellent point Herr Grau and in fact, the Junker Congress will not determine for all Junkers who are their friends and enemies--in fact, we want you, and other Junkers, to point them out to us!

The Congress will act against those who act directly against its Junker Guard Party members and those Junkers who request assistance from the Congress. Participation is totally voluntary.

All Junkers may live the lives they chose and the Junker Congress simply will try to provide protections so they are able to do that. We are committed to independent, Junker freedom.

No "laws" will be enacted forcing non-participating Junkers to comply. Any Junker can freely conduct business in Sirius and at any Junker facility with no restriction whether they are affiliated or not with the Congress. In fact. any Junker can freely ask the Congress for help and expect to receive it if is within our ability and means to give it.

Just as not all are called to military service, not all are called to politics and not all are called to ministry--so we do not expect all to join the Junker Guard Party--the political/military staff--if you will--of the Junker Congress.

The Congress is for the Junkers. No Junker owes the Congress anything. The Junker Guard Party will administrate the Congress and maintain it. Junkers will individually chose their own paths. We are simply here to help. This is true democracy. True Liberty.

I also wish to point out that we Junkers do indeed have few true enemies--other than the murderous Xenos and treacherous and deceitful Hogosha. We are not concerned about the Houses and greater factions attacking us so much as we wish to protect ourselves from the radical actions of small groups and individuals--the true rogues and renegades. In addition, we face greater threats from the Wild, Nomads and Phantoms--these are threats against which the Congress can serve all Junkers. It is not war we want, it is security.

One day, my ship, and my son's ship were traveling in a convoy moving supplies to the enemy of our enemy so that they could better kill them. Anyways we were going into sigma 13 and a train was in front of us. We all three entered about the same time and then two phantom ships swarmed the train and killed it before I even knew what happened.

I then asked how much would they want for our safe passage. We were then told, "Get out of here, we have no business with Junkers."

Now I am not saying that phantoms wont kill us, they certainly have the power. It just seems they are not trigger happy on Junkers. However we do still fear them.

House Culebra has joined the Junker Congress and will watch over Rochester. We have been able to build a new ship from the profits from our smelter in Puerto Rico. The ship is sound and ready to defend junker interests. (She has already taken a broad side from a BH battle ship). Cesar Culebra shall act as the Governor of Rochester and he stands by to aid any junkers in the area. He will also attempt to watch over Beaumont until a governor is named for that station.

Just an update for those participating...

I have about a dozen players who want to know when it's official, half a dozen who have already offered support without officially joining and over 450 million credits--unsolicited--from players who want to see it happen.

Looking good and welcome Rochester Adjudicator Culebra!

The modified tag is .:j:. with six ".", each representing a base/station and the topmost being for Puerto Rico--"J" is for "Junker", 'natch.

Here's a web graphic for the site below:

I may get blasted for saying this, but it is my opinion that Junkers and Congress sholdnt be in the same forum, much less the same sentance. I hav always been under the impression that Junkers were a very independant peoples. They kept to tem selves and never gave me a reason to shoot them. Now there are a bunch of you and you are gathering together into a crowd, with a crowd-mentailty, which produces stupid action, which produces fighting, which produces death.

Some say that he is allergic to a fungus found only between the toes of Corsairs,
and that he is oblivious to 98% of Liberty Law. All we know is...

He's called the Busdriver!

Junkers are independent but that doesn't mean they don't form groups. How else could they build any of the stations they own? How could they build the shipyard in Puerto Rico? Who runs the Culebra Smelter (well my family does that).

Its only natural for these bases to communicate and organize. Organize drug/artifact shipments, trade goods, gossip etc. As some of these junkers get money they get tired of being blasted by the first BH battleship that sees them. (I know i do)

They start to think why do we have this shipyard and mining facility if we don't use them. What the heck are we doing with all this scrap? What about all the ships we salvage (like around Yanagi).

The Junker Congress exists to aide junkers not start wars.

"Now there are a bunch of you and you are gathering together into a crowd, with a crowd-mentailty, which produces stupid action, which produces fighting, which produces death."

There have always been a bunch of us and we will continue to not cause trouble. But now when trouble finds us we will be able to fight back. Or do people want to keep junkers down for a reason...

//Tinkerbell you would change the tag after I bought my ship. grrrr

Sorry Culebra--it just made sense and looked so much neater to me. I'll comp you some cash for any loss.

Hi Jazz. I won't snap at anyone for respectfully stating an honest opinion--which it sounds like you did.

It had been suggested that the Junker Congres be an unofficial group or even a "council" like the Zoner council. I shot down both of those ideas for a simple reason--control.

As a faction, I can simply disband it if somehow its members lose sight of decent play.

I don't think Junkers should be running about going amuck or loosing the hounds of war willy nilly either. But have you noticed Junker npc's fly together--there is usually more than one. I'm sure the stations weren't build haphazardly by people randomly bring scrap along and tacking it to the last guy's piece that was left there.

Read the vanilla description--Junkers are family/. Where is the role play for that if they never communicate and religiously never do anything together?

They are hired by the houses to clear out the huge (and they are HUGE) debris fields--how is that going to happen without some coordination? Did each junker get an individual contract? That seems implausible. junkers can fly cruisers and battleships. Why? What for? Obviously there is more to "Junkerism" than the npcs are demonstrating.

So those are just some common sense rp reasons to consider Junkers having some in-game participation.

Here are some of the things I see the Junker Congress doing:

Helping rep and basically equip new Junkers as a means of teaching new Junkers proper rp from the gitgo and providing a peer group that might be able to exert a little influence in a positive way when someone with a Junker gets carried away.

Lastly--and the part I want--putting a little intrigue and mystery back in the Junkers.

It's amazing to me that "Junkers" are the big concern when the server has many players with a character in every major and opposing faction who do so simply to make sure they know what everyone else has and no one is better than them. I've also noticed that many of these players are the ones shouting, "Nooo--balance!" whenever someone comes up with an idea they can't control or co-opt. It's human nature.

There are players with Corsair cruisers, Outcast Destroyers and Bounty Hunter Guild cap ships. That bothers me a lot more. All of my characters are directly related to one another's role play--all but one is a Junker (the other is a Liberty Rogue).

What is threatening about a Junker saying, "Help! I'm being attacked!" and other Junkers in the system coming to his or her defense? Sounds pretty 'family" to me.

I am not creating a faction that will unify all Junkers. Just the ones working in the faction--just like any other faction. If your concern is all the Junkers will join the faction--haha--trust me, that's not happening.

If your concern is the faction might have some success and expand rp--welll that is the idea. It shouldn't be a threat.

And do you have a "main" Junker character?

Helloooooo!

Can we be a faction?

Is anyone there?

Waiting

The 500 million is on character "JUNKER_CONGRESS".

I was told it would just be "taken".

[OOC] I'll probably join you before too long... I was saving up to start my own junker council sort of faction, with more of a corporate board-of-directors style, before seeing this thread. This faction is perfect, or at least it looks like it so far. Would you mind a salvaged corsair cruiser (to actually be used for mining) in your midst once I finish getting the required funds? I've noticed lots of "Omgz salvaged ships flown by junkers is oorp"-type posts here... I understand that mining ships are for mining and salvaging, yadda yadda, but even us junkers want to look cool while doing it. I'll post an in-RP application or pledge of support at a later date.
