Major Ritter was sitting in his office on Battleship Karlsruhe. He was reading reports about foreign activity in the Omegas, written by a patrol wing two days before and didn't even try to hide his concerns, after all, he was alone. Despite the minor successes his pilots made, he needed more men for future operations, if he wanted to keep things totally under control. Someone knocked on his door.

"Come in." he said.

It was the Vizeadmiral's secretary with a folder in her hand.

"Excuse me, good Major. Have you seen the Vizeadmiral? I have this for him." said the secretary, slightly rising her hand with the folder. "Recruitment papers."

"Seriously?" - thought Ritter. "No, I haven't. Just pass them to the recruitment officer on duty."

"I'm sorry, I can't find him either. Maybe I'll just..."

"Nein, just put it on my desk. I'll have this." "The last thing I need is this unfortunate angel loosing some documents."

"Yes sir!"

The Major was left alone with the two applications. As he finished reading the first one, he saw one of the pilots walking on the corridor. He recognized him.

"Commander Grosse!"

The pilot turned around and saluted to the Major, who stood up. "Ja, Herr Major?"

"You are a decent pilot and field commander, Grosse. Have a look at these two applications."

Commander Walter Grosse, who was clearly not in mood for such, had a look at both. Knowing they would be under his command anyway, he knew his words might decide the matter...

Michael Schweiger and Fred Pankraz

Your applications were reviewed and accepted by ODF Command, welcome aboard. Report to the recruitment center on Planet Stuttgart, to receive your uniforms and to fill in some required papers. Then your shuttle will leave for Battleship Karlsruhe. Both of you will be contacted via external neural net communication system momentarily.

Corporal Joachim reporting on last sortie. Patrol began with a antimatter cannon Bergelmir at the Karlsruhe sector, Stuttgart system. Due to several problems with the previous VP-E9 engine and the limited number accessible, the civilian CE-Hx engine was mounted on the Bergelmir. Initial objective was a Omega's fly-through type mission. Initial objective could not be completed because of the detection of a RHC_ tagged vidar class capital ship named Riesenwolf in the Karsruhe sector. While still at radar edge area, Bandit proceeded to deviation course showing its intention of avoiding contact with ODF unit. Tracking of the Bandit was engaged and warning notifications sent to current traffic in Rheinland. Kruger convoy coming from Frankfurt to New Berlin responded. Contact with Bandit was lost in Frankfurt system after the activation of a cloacking device. Kruger escort ship Xi-11 reported echoes of said Bandit further away in the system. Bandit's attitude remained yet the same until total radar vanishing. While flying back to Stuttgart, new Bandit echo was detected. Vidar class capital ship named Harpy with Hessian transponder was located near the Stuttgart gate sector in New Berlin system. Destruction of the Bandit occured at 20:11 with Kruger escort ship Xi-11 and Detective Emile Olpenitz's assistance. While attempting again to return to Stuttgart, third alarm rang. Long range scans revealed a Corsair fleet in the Frankfurt system. Intel was confirmed by the RFP. Contact with said Corsair fleet occurred 10 minutes later in the Mainz sector. Primarily equipped with bombers, our forces destroyed their capital ship quickly but could not do much against their fighters. Our forces were decimated. (001 - 002 - 003 - 004 - 005)

Mein Herren... *nods*

I noticed your efforts to make Ze Fatherland safe and prosperous place to live. I might be of help. I received basic bomber training during Ze War, but I can learn more.

I'm sure I will not miss my home and family. I got really sick of my father having a mistress at every spaceport in Rheinland, Kusari, Bretonia and even Gallia now... I'm sick of finding some blue pills whenever wearing his jacket or space suit. And I'm sick of my mother waiting for him all night, crying and then finding her little retaliations when postman comes in the morning.

I'd like to start my pilot career as soon as possible, bitte.

Signed,

Ulrich Wurth

To Herr Ulrich Wurth,

I hope you do understand that being a pilot in the military is more than just a career. It's a profession that should define your whole life, even if you quit in the future. Though doesn't everybody join the army for that, am I right? Pack your belongings and make your way to Planet Stuttgart as soon as you can. There a shuttle will come for you and other recruits. Welcome aboard.

Grosse out.

Danke Herr Grosse... *nods*

Unfortunately, I missed turning left in Stuttgart, turned right to New Berlin and got intercepted there by ze hostile Hessian pilot. He tried to accuse me for drinking on ze job, imagine that! Luckily, RFP officer reacted to my distress call and saved me from such unpleasant talk. Than another RFP arrived, but that Hessian killed them both. I was just watching aside in my bomber, but got attacked at that point and had to fight him alone. *uploading cam data*

Oh, und... Ze Hessian mentioned that our ships are made for girls. Is that true? I mean... I have issues whenever getting in and out from cockpit. My left ball got pretty squeezed every time and I'm afraid not to lose it in ze space - like my old father did.

Sorry if I created any mess with that enroute of mine, Herr Grosse. I'm at Stuttgart now and ready for ze rest of my life.

Signed,
Ulrich Wurth

Korporal Joachim reporting from last sortie.

Yesterday, 821.17.11, I was called to scramble along the Captain Haakon Fekete. I joined the Captain's wing near the Karlsruhe sector with my Wraith. The reason of this immediate take off was due to the fact that the Strausberg had detected two echoes on their radar. Said echoes belonged to the VWA. Visual confirmation followed quickly after our entrance in the New Berlin system and arrival at sector C5.

Despite being on a secondary zone of influence as ODF, the intelligence we could gather is the following: VWA|Rotte-1 and VWA|Michael.Wolf, both flying very heavy fighters in the sector given by the Strausberg’s communication deck. The behavior of the bandits did not show any particular hostility toward the ODF units. We therefor engaged talks with the VWA ships as the doctrine taught us. After a long political discussion, the two echoes went on their way and no fire were exchanged to my surprise. It is in the ODF’s interest to notice that the communication propaganda skills of those pilots is extremely efficient and can be a danger in itself.

Few minutes after the departure of the VWA units, the Captain Fekete detected a Corsair titan on the radar screen. Ship named Hatchet(>|<), the corsair unit’s refusal to stop for control was acknowledged and law was applied accordingly.

This ends my report.

Recruit Michael Schweiger reporting the yesterdays patrol shift,

Herr Fekete and my self have started the patrol in Stuttgart system. We encountered a Bretonian transport which was in a rush to deliver newly mined Gold ore to the New Berlin planet. We cleared him and went our way to Omega-7. Checked the Kruger fields and found everything clear of hostiles and some mining activity. From there we returned to Stuttgart and then New Berlin. At Brandenburg we encountered this freelancing Blood Diamond smuggler who at first tried to run but when he figured out that escape wasn't an option he opened fire on us without even a polite ''defend your self'' or something. After that... Well, it's safe to say that he won't be smuggling anymore [1], [2] We disintegrated his illegal cargo afterwords.

The ''full'' logs from the encounter as short as they are...
DATA

End of report.

Schweiger over and out.

ODF|Hans.Joachim

Korporal Joachim reporting from last sortie.

Today, i received the order to patrol in the omega 7 system on my own with my Wraith. What was supposed to be a trader control routine patrol ended up pretty badly. I arrived near the Schwerin sector at 822.11.22.12:48 to start the assigned mission. I know my orders were to stay near the Schwerin's protection area, but I decided to push the patrol deeper in the system. That was a recruit mistake! Near my arrival at the Omega 5 jump hole at around 12:59, the automatic alert system started to scream. Indeed, a Corsair IFF ship just jumped in the system. To my deepest fear, that Corsair belonged to the infamous Brotherhood. His name was Herr Camo Mendez. There was no escape for me, I had to engage the combat. First shot were fired at a minute later. They did not lie to us during the training. Those Brotherhood pilots are really skilled and I could not achieve the upper hand. The only real damage I could do to him was a mine drop, but that wasn't enough. He was draining my regens quicker than I could drain his. I though my luck would strike again with an other mine drop, but this time, that mine blew up near my cockpit. The resulting damages occuring at 13:04 breached the cockpit canopy and therefor activated the automatic ejection system. The Schwerin rescue crew could get me once the TBH bandit left the area. I have severe bruises due to the rapid ejection, but I'll be back in battle tomorrow said the Schwerin medical assistant.

This ends my report.
