What's so hard about making custom hitboxes?
Well I can't make them... :$
Simple ones like a triangle are easy me thinks.. complex ones might crash the computer and the like, Treewyrm is the one to ask.
Making custom hitbox for any ship flying around would take ages I believe. For many ships they are not really necessary anyway. But would be nice if new ships had proper hitboxes yes.
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
WHY do so many ships use the Armored Transport hitbox? It's essentially just stretched into a huge, ill fitting rectangular prism around the ship, it seems. As for the bombers, it'd be nice to see the civvie one, the Rheinland one, and the waran.
remind me again - why did custom hitboxes sometimes crash the game? - i mean, if its so simple - ( and its not really needed for all ships, i guess - most capital ships can go with a simple "tube" and won t feel wrong, i daresay -
but wasn t there a bit about custom hitboxes to be sort of unstable?
Heh, why do we still have crow from starwars there anyway? You know, shouldn't be better if someone replaced it with a fitting model. Did you test it anyway? I mean doing the similar test I did on Outcast GB.
Custom hitboxes are, well, odd. Simple tube that is extremely large causes far more troubles than its worth. From my experience with custom hitboxes FL's physics engine needs them to be segmented. Simple boxes/tubes work great for small parts, but big ones can easy "miss" a projectile or detect incoming collision from other hitbox. So you are quite wrong, jinx. Really, try it yourself before you go out and suggest something.
