Why is Nomad gear so good for PVP?

So I think anyone will agree, the nomads in this mod have a clear and definitive advantage in pvp. My question is why. Why does one faction have gear that is so much better than everyone else's. Not just a little better, but far and away the best. What is the rationale for this? I know what the answer to this question was from when we implemented nomads as playable in the mod to several years ago, but I am not sure the answer anymore. With this latest patch buffing nomads even more, I think this is a fair discussion to have since we have moved so far way from its original intent.

I saw 2 or 3 things in the patch notes for the nomads, but now I am on my phone and don't have the energy to look again. But even without any buff, I think it's a valid question, even more so if there was a buff.

The snub stuff is better, that's true. I think even the Adads Bomber Guns are better than human technology. However, the Nammu is awful against snubs. I really wonder why we don't have a solaris-equivalent for the Nammu, because it's a better anti-cap ship than anything else.

They buffed the snub guns too well. three fighters could take down my cap 8 armor upgraded hull in a full minute, with one square off at a time. And the fact that so many of them spawned in omicron delta and probbably other places, it's IMPOSSIBLE to engage cruise engines unless you have a cloak yourself.

I think you guys are missing my point. We pretty much know the stuff is better, the question is why is it better and should it be.

Except when you're actually doing the TS3 squad of OC + Wilde + cloaked Durks uncloaking behind the enemy at point blank and just wrecking everyone. Seeing the last 2 days in Delta your statement is rather irrelevant and incorrect.

In fact by your logic I think we need to buff Core/Corsair gear as they are the truly no ally factions. Smile

I checked the changelogs, the changes they got are relatively minor, just combining some utility equipment from capital human class and regular human class into 1 single nomad equipment. Not something game breaking in my opinion. The only thing I think Nomads indeed have better is as someone already mentioned - bomber guns as they act as both EMP and Energy cannons. The other is perhaps the insanely annoying to hit model of the Predator. I have no experience to speak about caps, though.

Either way with the new changes to fighters getting aux slot unless nomads have a copy of the sunkiller they're at a serious disadvantage.

So is it a PVP fairness issue (they are always outnumbered) or an rp issue (they are more advanced) ?
