I was going to make a more comprehensive post than this, but people like @Durandal and @Petitioner have already summed up what I have to say.
All I can really add is that I find it disturbing how @sindroms is treating the issue as if it's a simple mistake and he shouldn't be crucified for it. I know you've been making the "too cool to really care" attitude your thing for years now, Spazzy, just as much as I also know you've (for the most part) treated RP here on Discovery like some sort of quasi-optional addition tagged onto the regular gameplay, but you either don't grasp how serious it is to literally wipe hours and hours of people's hard work out without a trace, or you do grasp it and simply don't give a sh*t. I don't really find either choice that inspiring.
If you knew full well what the big DELETE button did, then falling back on "but I thought there was a Recycle Bin" as an excuse is about the most halfassed thing you could come up with. You should be apologising unreservedly, not treating it as a minor bump in the road.

When we already had to monitor a highly problematic thread and had to invisible 5 posts before the two warnings were given, you tend to drop a warning that involves no compromises. Here is your darvin's award, it would say, come claim it. So in that case, Shiki's posts with faction accounts of all things, really seemed as a ''you wouldn't dare'' sort of statement.
This is the first time in.. seven years that anyone here will see me post something this serious here. Yes, Justin, I am breaking my veneer of ice and cool. And I am not doing this for Shiki, gods knows Vasko knows what I have said to him.
I do understand that you feel your work here is.. let's say non appreciated. Well, I do appreciate it, for instance (see the pun?). The O-3 Brawl and the whole dynamic events you put up (thanks Alley for the tools for it, teach me obi-alley-wan, you're my only hope), are without a doubt, one of the most fun times I had in the past year (to the ones that don't know me, I tend to disappear once in a while). You seem a fun admin, one willing to give agility and a sense of dynamism to the whole mod, and for that I am grateful. (You're no Dusty though, so don't let it get to your head)
There are always voices for and against to every and other decisions your team makes. Leading a community, leading a team, leading people always have that, and always will. I have been always against using short-sword measures (old Portuguese saying here) due to the fact it creates open wounds that never ever really close.
Hindsight is twenty twenty (probably an american saying), and now with this avalanche of criticism due to the method of punishment employed, everyone is a critic (me included). Well, I know you feel bad as hell. I know you are getting the flaming end of this very bad stick.
But as always in life, and it is something I cultivate in my job.. I don't care who is to blame if there is a solution. So let us work towards it, and even if it costs us a little more heartache, a little more time, let us do it, for that is the way to go forward, together.
Because then, you will be the guy that admitted that effed up, and also the guy that solved it. It makes you a better man. It makes you the man that did the right thing.
Think it through.
Thank you again, to everyone in the Admin and Dev team for all of your work.

There is a wealth of incredibly harsh and incredibly creative ways to punish someone in this community. The fact that you went for the most nuclear of nuclear options right off the bat is not excusable.
Allow me to disagree. The warning was posted right there and then, in admin green. Do stupid things at your own risk. He did.
However what is not excusable is me suggesting and later carrying out a sanction by using admin management tools all the while having only an -assumption- of what can be done about it in the case it would need to be reversed. I assumed it worked in one way, while in reality it did not, and doing so without double-checking with someone more knowledgable - that was inexcusable and that is something I will be punished for and something I will accept the punishment for.
Every single sanction we process on the server is inherently made and carried out to be reversible. Characters deleted still exist and can be restored from backups. We make mistakes during sanction processing and so having the ability to reverse them is always expected.
Personally, I liked the Stalin style punishment. I'd have hoped it would have scared the immature ones into thinking twice about being douchebags and to be constructive, even if it is criticizing. In my opinion, good job.
EDIT:
Yes, I am fully aware this punishment would have rendered me gone years ago. I am not denying that but just like Spazzy we're all changed men, right?

I just want the lore and posts we lost back.
Currently unable to consistently be present in the Community due to life constraints.
Let me know if something is missing, especially inside threads you created. Please note I couldn't retrieve your posts from January as the snapshots were out of reach. The one I retrieved was from mid-december.
Alley, you have a great deal of my respect for spending your free time in helping others over and over again
This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.
