I don't know, until SP campaign is dropped and Alaska is buffed up to how it should be, it will always be an issue. And to be fair, if you want to make any realistic money smuggling, cardamine is your best bet. I timed it once several times with a friend, who went the texas-bering-hamburg-frankfurt-sigma 13-sigma 17-omicron beta-omicron alpha (and back) route, compared to the texas-new york-alaska-omicron minor-omicron 100-omicron major-omicron 90-omicron alpha.

It actually saves you almost 5 minutes by going through Alaska, and sometimes longer depending on how many trade lane disruptions you have happen, so I can't entirely blame smugglers. It might not be the best RP in the universe to go that route, but cardamine simply isn't profitable enough for the time it takes. It isn't profitable enough right now anyway (which is why everyone runs diamonds-niobium). Not to mention you suffer the additional risk of being blown out of space by unlawful corsairs/Order and lawfuls throughout new york and texas (or even higher chances of being shot at if you go through the texas-hamburg-omicron beta route).

In fact, when leaving from Texas, FLcompanion tells you to go in Rheinland space/sigmas... So from Tex, it's faster to go in normal space

But When you are leaving from NY, yes, it tells to go in Alaska...

Thats a trespassing of the guard system, which means he can intercept and boil them off at will. Yet, those smugglers should first off tweak their reputations in order to have that guard affliation as hostile.

Quote:*took a look only at the first posts*

I perfectly understand you, Here in Alaska we are Tired of everything:

* OC/Cardi Smugglers
* Co/Arti Smugglers
* Random people "Exploring"
* OORP Co/OC
* Capwhores,,,(Both lawfuls, and unlawfuls)
* OORPer, OOCing in system chat:
The worst i've is someone saying in system chat without any //: "Wow, You guys are really sticking to RP"
* etc

However, no problem with Order related stuff, even if it is a BS, As long as they RP with us.

I very rarely travel into alaskaberty, it's only happened once since I started with my order character and that was to chase down a liberty battlecruiser and two bounty hunters that kept poking their heads into omicron minor.

I typically encourage other non-Bs| order pilots to stay out of alaska as well, as it only provokes liberty into intruding on our space in return.

That's going to change when I get my gunboat though =P More recon/stealth missions into liberty are going to happen, but rest assured I wont be there to start fights.

When I smuggle cardamine on my junker, I go from alpha through the tau systems, through kyushu, shikoku, kepler, colorado, to new york. The route may take a little longer, but it's far more realistic for a smuggler to cruise through open house space with contraband than to go through three of the most heavily guarded military systems in all of sirius with it.

If that route doesn't appeal to anyone, there's also Alpha -> Taus -> Baffin -> Coronado -> Cortez -> tradelanes into New York. A decent bit shorter, I think, there's 80k of open flying the whole way, and then six tradelanes to Manhattan. Pretty short, and unless the TAZ will blast you for going through Baffin (not bloody likely, if you keep on your wits and talk to them) its pretty hard to get caught right up until the last tradelane.

so we have all these alternate routes that are far more appropriate for smugglers... and they're using the alaska/minor/100 route because it saves 5 minutes? Sounds like powergaming to me.

Actually you all suck with your smuggler routes.
My smuggler junker route takes 3 hours and I am both lawful and unlawful in that route and cooperate with different players on a different level.
ha.
i win.

its not the point. The point is that you can shoot them down and no capship will come to whore you about it.

For someone with such little time to play the game you seem to have a enormous amount of time to flood the forum, but enough of pointing out the obvious let's get back on subject. Your hostile PM's to a unknown vessel that was a Zoner ID, Zoner Tag, Zoner ship with Zoner weapons traveling through Minor space to Delta while you sat comfortably safe in O-100 wasn't appreciated. Something about allies and stuff, who knows. A change of attitude might lead to better interaction with other characters or at least that's been my take on it.
As for the smugglers deal with it, if you are a Order character and they are in the Guard system then stop them, or you can let them go on their merry way and keep sending menacing PM's to random ships. Point being, their smuggling, much like in real life if one does not get caught it never happened. Sometimes the most unlikely and unexpected of routes is the safest one.

You're not the only one =P

My junker takes counterfeit from rochester to arranmore, gold from arranmore to gran canaria, deuterium from gran canaria to planet honshu, engine comps from honshu to malta, cardi from malta to rochester =P

When i'm the only order pilot on who's actually trying to patrol our space, I cant be everywhere at once.

From your name, I had no idea of knowing what faction you were part of. I asked you to explain your business in order space, all you had to say was "i'm a zoner, just passing through" and you'd have been fine. Throwing insults and threats at me isnt the way to say you're an ally.

unfortunately the chat interface in-game doesnt show me your tag, ID, or ship. I have to work around the limitations, so I ask in private comms.

EDIT:

Oh, and I can surf the forums while I work from home, I cant be in-game though =P

Using the ingame player list to "see" ships in other systems? Is your ship in RP really capable of doing that? Where can i purchase that scanner for i want on to! *sniff*

PS. Initiating threats were all you, something about turning my piece of space junk into dust.
I simply suggested in response that you staying in your guard system would lead to a longer life :D
As if my fighter was going up against your lv 80ish must of been a cap ship... run Zoner, run!
