Talking about why is it realistic or not... - NO POINT
I could ask the same "realism" questions here: JGs, if there is a JH from Alpha to Eta, then another to Theta, why dont they make a JG directly from NY to NT/NB/NL?
So: trading BBs:
- isnt oorp
- cant be effectively enforced to stop doing it
- requies teamwork to be done
They don't actually exist in the same state as cargo, nor can they even be carried in a hold. They don't add cargo when added or remove cargo when depleted
They are integrated into the hull and shields, small batteries and repair material.
It's ok until it doesn't spoil enjoyment from the whole fun. Unfortunately it does and what is more very often. Sadly nothing can be done apart from verbal request.

Of course there is, realistic within the game universe. In vanilla you drop shields to jettison cargo, beams shouldn't work with shields up. Bats and bots are installed in the hull and shield generators, not in the cargo bay and it's kind of silly to explain it as if a tractor beam can reinstall them. I know the game allows it, but the game engine allows things that shouldn't be allowed.
It isn't really in RP, sure, you can justify it, heck I can justify F1 as a mini one shot JG or a cloaking shield, but that doesn't make F1'ing in combat RP either.
It can be enforced, I can see with a scan when someone has batts and bots they didn't have before. It's pretty obvious when this tactic is being used.
Easy way.. find out who gave out the b/b, and attack him. and bots/bats don't have to be traded all the time, you could easily just drop, and the other could tractor. Which is clearly not oorp

That's the thing, it seems like an unfair advantage for the side that already outnumbers the other side. I've done it myself, giving my batts and botts to a GC GB in a large fight against the KNF, who were already outnumbered, denying them the one kill they almost had. As a tactic apart from RP it works fine, but in RP it does seem kinda cheap and sleazy.

That's usually impractical for several reasons. It's usually the heavy hitters being buffed (the GB's and bombers) by the faster ships that can get away with dodging, and it's also difficult to scan all the ships in a battle to see who gave them, it isn't that hard to see that ship that is out of them all of a sudden has some.

If he's in a repair ship, dropping a few at a time, would you really wanna kill him and drop 1000's of batteries and bots all over the battlefield all at once?
Only way that would help you at all is that then, everyone in the battle could use them at will with a click of the tractorbeam. :)
EDIT: I usually root for the underdog, so im most likely to help the ones who need it the most. Unless someone else offers a great big pile of credits.

The repair ship would simply use its own b/bs on itself.. Which, to your advantage, takes away from supplies your enemies would get, but, there's a catch - it'll take up quite a bit of your time - possibly resulting in your death.
Its far, very far to be oorp its what we call TACTIC and we have a ship for that,The Repair ship who can handle 4000 botts and batts exactly for supply ship in combat.
I've never seen a repair ship in a battle, but even if I did that doesn't make it in RP to use one in a battle, it's a repair ship and not a battle support ship.
