Should a recommended ship list exist?

I got it completely. The official faction should control people who didn't join and don't want to join, but want to fly that ID.

It's a powergrab and I disagree with it.

People with same ID have the ships they should use listed as RP. Meaning you can use them without asking anyone.

Ships from other factions than your own are yellow and require asking, for example if your LWB wants to use Odin you should ask Red Hessian faction about it. Or write a story how you got it from Hessians and why you are using it.

Seriously, just accept that this is a ROLEPLAYING server and that there are factions that are ROLEPLAYING the leadship of a faction otherwise populated by NPC's. Key word: ROLEPLAYING.

Write a one page story about a battleships and you might just get to fly it.

Write a couple of sentences about your character wanting to buy a destroyer \ cruiser and you get to fly it.

Follow the simple guidelines set by the factions (Cause you can't bloody well repair a battleship by yourself after flying it to manhattan and going "LOLWTF" and getting destroyed... Or should i say... A bretonian battleship in Rheinland...?) and be rewarded.

ROLEPLAY on a ROLEPLAYING server and be rewarded. Act like a prat, and be taken down... hard.

Why do you need to fly another factions ship? You can't RP without it? Too often it's simply a justification, a quick rp to give you a pvp advantage, and even if it is not, it seems that way.

Also, the factions here are mixed, a guy could be in both factions, so he's asking himself if he could fly the ship.

What's wrong with being fair across the board, simply having a list of allowed ships for each ID?

Edit for actual post content: I'm not really sure what the issue being raised here is. Mjolnir's system is pretty simple. The NPC faction to whom the ship belongs gets fitted with the "green" tag to demonstrate that they make freely make use of it. The orange tag for those factions whom have a friendly accord with the former and the red tag is assigned to those whom are at odds with the original producer.

Exceptions being made for those persons who have consent granted by the appropriate channels.

Pretty cut and dried.

Double Edit: The Keepers are oppressing my RP by forbidding me from purchasing their ships. I demand they outfit their vessels with a saddle at once.

akuma, so why your dragon character was flying bretonia battleship ? or better question, why dragons give funds for battleship of other faction ? and no i will not your answer.

Well the Bretonia one is just as weak compared to the Rhiendland, right? You get a fraction more armor and a fraction less maneuverability, where as the Rhiendland BS has 16 guns and a boatload more armor.

But since you asked, the ship was Bretonian, with no intention of ever changing until Unselie threatened me for having it. I then deleted all my QCO accounts and the Battleship, which was then my sole tie to Bretonian Lawfuls, as I no longer belonged, so I informed Unselie both with RP and on PM, and took the ship elsewhere.

There was RP for the ship and the rules allow me reasonable time to retag it (Rule 6.22) so I was well within the rules, but I neglected to account for admin bias in this area.

What else do you want to know.

Excuse me? I'm dead serious and it's you who are ducking the questions. Now answer the question, why isn't it good enough to be fair across the board with everyone and say X ID means these ships allowed, no others allowed?

In fact the guy can't be in both Factions, that is a violation of Server rules, you can't be in the Blood Dragon faction and the Bretonian faction at the same time.

I haven't read a damn word of his posts, and I don't intend to, but I can trace the thread of the argument.

How is Mjolnir supposed to account for every exception or to try to figure out what those excetions might be? This is a simple guide for picking the right ship and how much work you may need to do to get it.

For example: Liberty Gunboat, Xenos: No. That's what it states. Now the XA has a fella tagged XA flopping around in a Liberty Gunboat with a Terrorist ID, how is that possible? Check out the stories thread The Unstoppable Truth. 2 Pages in already and Laowai's only just considered stealing the damn thing. This is an exception. He's Xeno tagged and XA faction tagged, but his ID says he can have it anyway, still we have 2+pages of RP to explain a gunboat theft.

That is an exception. Hardly quantifiable is it.

Mjolnir has however qualified his idea, yellow needs a simple request, most factions will say yes in fact even the RM will say yes to anything below capship size. Red requires RP on the forums.

Now it's folks on the forums who report, thusly getting it written up on the forums and having it dated there, gives you a first line of defense against any sanction. Dotting the RP around numerous threads you've been waving your banner about in, doesn't cut it. It's too random. Collate. Make it easy for the folks who might get up your nose about it to find it. They've no right to judge the RP, if an admin finds it silly, they'll say so. Case in point, one Order fellows attempt to steal a Liberty Assault Carrier in one post. Shockingly enough the idea didn't fly, let alone the ship. But there are examples of odd exceptions the Fantasia has some year of RP behind it. Prospectors Gunboat has at least 8 months probably more. Zapp's LWB fella flies around in a ship he by rights shouldn't but he's got the RP up and it's dated and there's no sanction going to get through based on his ship choice.

If you choose to fly a ship you could get sanctioned for, it is in your best interests to get some RP up onto the forums for it. Whilst you may know the RP of your ship inside out, the folks who have to deal with it do not. That is how sanctions arise. People see the "OORP" combination and there's no attempt to explain it to them in game, owing to the large amount of stories you can't expect folks to read every one, you get reported. Now there's a strong chance that a t least one of the Admin team will have read your posted RP and will point to it during a decison making process, if it isn't there, then you have no defense, unless you want to go back through every post you've ever done to piece together the RP you've left littered about like breadcrumbs.

Make your own life easier do not expect others to do it for you.

That said this is a damn solid attempt to make folks lives easier. It's not the total solution but it's a very good place to start when choosing your ship. It tells you how much effort you have to go to to get the ship. This is a great idea and should be commended as such.
