If you look into who sieges and when, you'll find that most of the recent sieges are done mainly by a single circlejerk that lives in an off-peak timezone. At least that's how it looks like from the outside.
POBs live and POBs die, I sieged and defended a fair few. Not that it was very fun, actually exhausting, but still an activity spark.
It sucks that the base which has been useful and provided positive impact to the community is going to be sieged and potentially destroyed, but that is part of the game.
The one issue I have with this is that the Corsairs are somehow being dragged into this, but whatever... as a consequence the Corsairs should loose Athos. I say that as a longtime and current Corsair player. There should be consequences for factions committing asinine amounts to resources to continued base sieges.
The destruction of Athos would be a very appropriate development due to the circumstances.

Ok so what you're failing to understand is:
inRP neither Enclave nor Corsairs would actually bring a fleet of Battleships for this siege, instead they would bring bombers and whatnot, but since the POB's cannot be really destroyed by bombers you have to bring Battleships. This is clearly a gameplay issue.
People were making the same argument when Reutlingen was sieged, it is just wrong.
Both defending and attacking is cancer. Mostly boring, extremely time-consuming, and exhausting if you dedicate yourself to it.
Fixes to the mechanics could be implemented, like forcing attackers and base owners to chose relatively short time windows when the base can be attacked/can take damage and simultaneously reducing the POB shield efficiency.
For instance, defenders choose 18:00-20.00 UTC, east coast guys choose 02:00-04:00 UTC. Result - base is still defendable/siegeable, but there are active pews in the mentioned hours, no one is sleep-deprived, no one is nervously watching player lists or bot alarms. Win-win, IMO.

Yes lets make corsairs lose a canon BS over a non-canonized pob lmao
Trying to defend Goldgeist is just a delay. In my case, I have just got home, am working long hours, and cannot spend enough time to supply it with top-ups let alone spend the time with a rallying cry on the forums. Wrong time zone for me too. Noted there were 5-6 ships attacking it but no defence at all. No doubt the siegers will call it a victory, I would call it a very hollow one.
Then why did you purchase/took over if you don't have time?
It's pretty simple.
Precovid 19 decision.
I am an essential health worker. Not all have had the 8 weeks or so of lying in bed all day.
That a simple enough reason/answer?
And I work in heavy industry and? I also work without any restrictions, so it means we are both on the same level here. Just wanted to say bringing in Real life reasons doesn't mean everyone will sit down and leave one base alone, yet if you don't have time for it.
Just get some people to defend it if you care or hire factions like BMF for supplies. PoBs are time consuming and not well manageable just on your own. No matter if you work or not
