I made my comment publicly so I'll apologise for the misunderstanding publicly and
try to gain understanding.

Props to you for apologising. Many people don't have the guts to do that.
You did that publicly, and even continued to be polite after my post. so you have

What I was referring to was the above. Admin's decision is final, however they
have provided a way of appealing any decision made. What I didn't suggest and
this was my mistake in not mentioning it, was to go there and appeal instead of
bringing that case into here. Granted it is a relevant case, but the above sentences
changes the whole leaning of your post to "Whiney."

Marburg had it right when he said "(meaning triyng to get forum members to
second guess admin judgement for an obvious party foul)" those last two
sentence turns your whole explanation / apology post into an appeal to the masses.
Hence why I said, "The only opinions you need to know about [your case]
are the admins' [opinions based on the evidence that they have been presented
in the case of your swearing. The general public's opinions will not change that you
have been sanctioned.] Appealing to the masses like this [afore mentioned
everyone elses' irrelevant opinions on your sanction] is ... distasteful."

There is nothing wrong for one to apologize to the community for one's actions..(perhaps in a separate thread, but no matter). If you wish to appeal, I believe there is a thread for that as well. But I feel it is not distasteful at all for one to apologize..

Anyway. I'm sorry there was misunderstanding between us. I like to be frank
with people, many times it comes across as harsh. For those who can grasp it,
there is opportunity for personal growth when something like this comes along.
You've shown yourself a good sport by not attacking me personally.

honestly, why does it matter? are you all still children that i word offends you? if you think about it, the crudest and rudest insults can be said without a single swear word. yes, you'd have to be very linguistic, but it's possible. obviously you guys are not smart enough to think about this for yourself. if you think it's going to be censored by the retarded FCC, then don't say it. actually, this is a definition of profane language by the FCC

While the flexibility of interpretation you promote may be accurate, regulating the obscene on this subjective basis would be time-consuming if not impossible. There would certainly be more arguments. This is compounded by the fact that not all admins are native english speakers.

I think the introduction of such subjectivity would only lend to more rule-lawyering, not less.

For the sake of simplicity, it makes sense to call "sh*t" a swear. Everyone knows where they stand and can proceed to focus on the game rather than this BS.

Stephen Pinker's new book "The Stuff of Thought" is worth getting just for the chapter on "swearing" alone.

Personally I don't see the necessity for typing swear words. You should hear what I say to the lot of you while I'm typing words like "fiddlesticks", "by Jove", "bloody", "blimey" when Sir Roger is about.

Strangely enough "goddamn" is a serious swear word on the American side of the Atlantic, whereas its not so much here.(in my house)

My advice: Judge Dredd type swears: "drokking" "by strom" or my old fav, Asterix....." You &$%* " and shout away at the screen. Just remember to turn teamspeak off.

I think it also depends who gets the complaint. I posted a complaint about someone using the F-word in system chat and even posted a screen shot. NOTHING was done about it at all.
