After returning and experiencing several of these, I don't think Titan/Escort events work. They feel more like an exercise in frustration than fun (at the very least when they are tied to a story outcome). To be fair to you Barrier, it seems very difficult to get them right as there are too many factors in place.

I will clarify I did mostly enjoy myself though, it was alright.

You should really consider getting in touch with other devs and setting up some testing environment for event props, like bases or titans. I feel like a lot of the numerical issues with recent events could've been easily avoided if the stuff was tested beforehand.

That, and the plot armour, aside, I think today went quite well in the end.

As 1IC of the RPA, i would like to express that i felt the actual fighting component of the Fireship event was quite nice, it felt like a reasonable even battle with a good amount of kills on either side.

In regards to the toughness of the Fireships, while i do believe it was fully possible that Bretonia could have stopped at least one of them, i agree that the armour level was certainly too much for them to reasonably have a chance at stopping both of them, and in that regard i am more than happy to accept Barriers adjustment to the outcome to reflect that.

I hope those on the Bretonian side found the fight itself at least to be enjoyable.

The numbers for all events are iteratively modified. E.g. the siege objectives had a lot more combined hp than previous siege events. But of course they did not have the siege restriction. We will further increase the number in the future.

The hegemons were also based on previous titan events (aka Short Circuit & Agent and Director). But in this case, I should have incremented slower. The heges are fine with a bit less armor that the other titans classes would need in a similar engagement. I think I've hit a sweet spot for most heavy cap classes now.

I would point out that even with this in place, the Hope got down to about 1/4th hp after one good fight for the baf and about 8 minutes of concentrated damage. If the BAF won two fights, the Hope would be dead and the Fortune goes down to perhaps half. That kind of thing cannot be predicted in advance, and if I underestimated, the objectives would be dead too quickly. It's a fine line.

In any case, things can always get shifted retroactively as needed, even though that's never my first choice.

It would require 7.5 permafiring, uncontested tachyon destroyers with shields off the entire duration hitting the same component with pinpoint precision for 8 minutes to kill one. I could see that happening if Mollys weren't around, but they had a fleet one had to fight too. If they had sunrails, 10.5 minutes.

If they were pressured and the hege fought back (shields on, 100% accuracy, never stopping, only component hits), 15 minutes. It took the fireships 20 minutes-ish to get to the objective.

All in all though despite the unwinnable odds it was okay, fight wise. I had fun. It's just a bit of a bummer about the objective.

In all honesty, as the pilot of the Hope, (yes. Hope flew Hope.) I agree with letting the partial success of the mission. I myself adjusted my own points of Roleplay Consequence for Saoirse Keane (She went down with the Fireship, the Early Detonation plays actually really well in my hands, and the kinda RP I was aiming for. ish). I did practically just park myself there to see just how long it'd take before I actually started to feel the damage, though more so to give Brets a good chance at the fight. I also wanted to do a countdown before I reached the ship, but I got nudged right as I'd started to. Which was kinda fitting for the ending we were given. The Snuggling up to my hege was cute too, though I believe it did not save the screenshot I took of the pair so close to me, almost within kissing distance.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the Molly side for their excellent coordination today, the formation and its whole dynamic movement was a true joy to watch. You guys did exactly what was asked of you in regards to the plan and you kept the cover going for as long as we needed. The Plan Was A Complete Success in Execution, regardless of the writeup or event story continuation. Be proud, and Keep Fighting for Dublin, my friends!

Bretonia. As my "Sworn Enemy" InRP, I'd like to also offer my thanks for your participation. I know the event has been a bumpy ride for you guys, what with your uneasy start to the event with inability to muster people on a half-days notice pretty much. Hope that the shooting part was at least fun for y'all, and that you can take something away from the boss battle near the Battlecruiser Bracknell.

Maybe we will all meet on the battlefield again sometime, under more "Chill" Conditions (ie. where people don't feel it matters so much if you win or lose, just about having a good time). Maybe I'll get this hege thing going at last and finally kick of that fun train of thought. Maybe you all might be willing to do some more Roleplay based stuff instead of just raidlog pews. That could be fun too (:

As for Keane. Rest in Peace. You have burnt brighter than most, and did the Republic proud to your last breath. May your spirit rest easy, knowing you did what you could for a cause you believed was worth fighting for (I'll make a RP post Eventually over it, hopefully sooner rather than later).
