Quote:SwissScorch, forum diplomacy skills need work.

Swiss has shown plenty of leadership, just not to the public. Since ascendancy is away so often, swiss tends to be the one left in charge of the order, and I talk with him in PM's on a daily basis to figure out what needs to be done and how to do it. Most people dont see what goes on in the background here, and they take that for a lack of personal knowledge or ability when they shouldnt.

Swiss isnt very vocal on the forums, but almost everything I post in regards to the order has been run by him first for approval.

If that is the case, allow me to add activity to the list of faults.

Swiss is on daily, at least on the forums. He just doesnt like posting when anyone who does post here is constantly attacked by people who dont know what they're talking about. I dont blame him.

So, I do the posting instead, when able. I've got a thick enough hide to ward off the mindless flames around here, it's easy when those doing the flaming have fewer braincells than a sack of rice.

' Wrote:That shouldnt impact your decision. I see factionalized people in odd areas all the time - hell, I saw an [LN] in omicron gamma the other day. for the most part, the 101st, RoS, or SoB (especially SOB) shouldnt care if you decide to operate in an area such as bretonia or rheinland - but you're likely going to be operating on your own most of the time.
If you'll be operating on your own most of the time, what's the point of joining a faction at all?

Note that none of the categories the two of us listed are why my Outcast is independent. I have no grudge against Eppy, though he knows I've disagreed with him plenty of times (hell, argued with him in-game once... without realizing it was him. Boy, that felt awkward.) Never had an issue with Lohingren, BLS didn't fit Ayumu at all, and I don't think SOB had started when I first made Ayumu.

So what was my reason? Every time I've joined a faction - every time - my interest in the character has died quickly. The BPA, the Mandalorians, the Junker Congress, Hellfire Legion. Every one of them. I felt obligated to play that character in a certain specific way, and it was no longer fun. You ran into something similar with your Junker as I recall, I'd have expected you to consider that possibility.

EDIT: To make this relevant to the topic, this doesn't mean I'm not a good RPer. Considering where I am with my Outcasts, I'd say at least a few people like me. But if I had joined any of the factions, I wouldn't have gotten here; being in a faction fits me about as well as leading one fits you.

Quote:That's a possibility, but in most cases if you really dislike the person running the faction, it's because they've denied you access to the faction or it's territories in the past - and generally with good reason.

Or because you just don't like them. Personality conflicts can exist for many reasons, Tenacity, and even for no clear reason at all. There's plenty of people here I dislike, and not one of them is at all related to being denied access to a faction or its territories - something which has only happened once, when I tried to join the Lane Hackers when I first started here.

:lol:A hide?

Thick would be the way to describe it.

Apologies. I do try to hold back.

Moving back on the subject and not on about Swiss...

Simply put Being in a faction has advantages and disadvantages
The same is for being a indie, But if you work hard for one or the other, you will get rewarded eventually.
Basically weigh up the advantages and disadvantages for both and make your decision on that.

Also Factions do work bloody hard, and some indies do aswell.
Indies should be treated with respect if they deserve it ( Aka Tenacity on his order?) and they should treat the faction with the same respect.
But the indies can only inforce the rules, the faction leaders or council has the authority to change the rules, within the faction, but they can also enforce those rules in their ZOI.

Ive never been the best at explaining but i hope that makes sense

Wow. I agree with this.

The rules should be formed out of a collective debate involving both independents and factions. (However, most of Kusari's, Liberty's, etc laws seem to be fine.)

The problem happens when respect is not shown both ways.
