As someone said befeore omber or gunship, those ships are most suitable to do piracy efectively (you can use VHF with special settup but take down adv. tran is for loooong time if you are alone).
Im not sure if that is legal but nice RP would be pirate (or borderwold) transport with special settup doing classical piracy but demanding cargo instead of credits.
my pirate ( clover ) is flying a bomber. - why? - cause it is the most efficient ships for piracy.
- it is cheap
- it is small
- it is probably cheaper and easier to maintain than a gunboat
- it packs the punch to take down a transport without too much pain
and
- transports FEAR a bomber
i have tried flying a VHF - and when i was flying a VHF, some transports entered some sort of sportive attitude before RP. they were not at all intimidated by the fighter ( some with good reason, cause i somewhat tried without success to take them down when they denied to pay ).
so thats when i changed back to a bomber. - the supernova is not very balanced.. but its a fearsome weapon. - and every transport captain knows that it won t take more than 2 shots to destroy ANY transport, no matter of its armour - and it requires hardly any skill to hit with it.
thats all points that speak for the bomberclass.
a gunboat can do the same - but is not as cost efficient as a bomber ( in RP ... in reality, its cheaper cause you won t have repair costs every now and then, due to the much stronger shields )
VHF do well - in packs, but not when you re a lone pirate.... light fighters are a challenge, but impractical - only when you seek a david vs. goliath fight.
I was wondering about somewhat the same thing today, only in real life. I couldn't figure out why bandits trying to rob a heavy fortified van transporting valuables always use cars, heavy vans or even trucks. Why can't they just use a bicycle instead?
/sarcasm
Come on seriously? Usually you pirate in groups of 4 max. 4 lf's are barely able to do damage, let alone survive defensive fire.

Sir, I used to pirate in a VHF exclusively. Let me just tell you that when you encounter 7 people in Advanced Trains that just-so-happen to have Armour Mk VIII, none of which want to Roleplay with you, and fire on you when you are typing, it does get to you, especially since you know that you can't get to these people through Roleplay, or big guns. It's not only disheartening ingame, but also in real life. I do know that I don't have to pirate them, but the opportunity to Roleplay is something I'd rather not lose, and it is rather disheartening to know that I did lose it....
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
@ Baconsoda: Yes ... I'm well aware its not about money ... That's why I only ask for 500k while everyone else is demanding 15 mil. For me its about the role play as a pirate. Get tired of the traders that run silent while you spew pages of monologue. And I get annoyed with traders that dock on what should be hostile bases to their character. Like those Rheinland corporations docking at Naha for example. The most annoying one I've encountered continually ran silent about a dozen times on the Diamond/Niobium Run (using Chugoku as well). Since he never responded to my demands I took snapshots each time I made a demand (to defend myself if need be) and proceeded to destroy this trader each and every time he came through the NB jump hole. Musta destroyed the guy a dozen or so times and he just kept going without saying a word. He eventually logged out. But alas ... we gotta deal with people complaining about pirates over and over again. And everyone seems to think its A-OK for bounty hunters and others to cap-kill us pirates in mass.
So ... we get complaints about pirates in gunboats and bombers and yet praises for bounty hunters killing pirates in battle cruisers, bombers and such. I just don't get it. Role play anyone?

huh realy? wow:wacko:
Prices of RHA Shimada:
Diamonds, artefacts = drop whole cargo or death
Niobium 2 milions transports, 3 milions trains and higher or similar class
rest kinds of stuff 1 milion transport, 2 milions train
special price: If you try to run + 1 milion and I dont care what are you flying, Bowex, dauman and kruger + 1 milion... zoners 0 if they sell it at freeport, junkers 500k for every class of ship and cargo... of corse no diamonds for everyone including zoners and junkers

I'd have to disagree with you on that one... Have you looked at the average repair bill of a Bomber vs that of a Gunboat? Biiiig difference. (not the in-RP maintenance of course, like fuel, food, etc.)

Don't get literal on me. That was an example. Now if we can get back to the issue and stop nit-picking the details of my post ...

Jynx did state that in gameplay terms it's different, but in RP, you have to pay and feed the crew, get more fuel for a bigger ship, etc. In roleplay, fighters and bombers are cheaper, otherwise the house military would just be flying big ships and not even worry about bombers and fighters.
EDIT: And I have to say, demanding small amounts does not necessarily mean you're RPing more. Do you want to get payed and eat? Well, you need to demand enough to do that, and make a profit, if you're pirating for money.
