Rheinland is dead for the most part, the Corsairs do not kill you if you're not approved (ask Zelot), and the Liberty restriction is a necessary evil that did receive buckets of flak.

It has nothing to do with this topic anyways.

Yes, it did. Past-tense. Outcast? Still gets whined about.

That's all I have to say on the topic here. I, perhaps foolishly, wasn't expecting you to reply. There'll be no more derailment from me.

(for the record, I think just about everyone is a bit sanction-happy lately.)

(edit: Although to be fair, maybe the Navy and Corsairs are still getting unwarranted whining that I'm just not hearing. Considering where I spend most of my time, it's quite possible.)

No one complains as vocally about the Rheinland Military's "absolutely no battleships" policy, I haven't heard any complaints about the Corsair registration in a while (and I believe the OPG were enforcing that one), and people seemed to shut up pretty quick about the Liberty Navy one.

That's because the Corsair registration system is open (at least the last time I checked). If you have decent RP, and you can be trusted not to go on lone raids into Alpha, then you get approved. Some of the other ones however seem to want to force anyone who wishes to RP a capital ship to join the official faction and get approval for their RP. Which is Not Allowed if I understand the admin notice correctly.

No longer active online due to a dwindling amount of non-PvP (trading, pirating, mining, etc.) fun in the new version.

Dear Reverend,

i become angry, when i see you become so angry, that you think, best is maybe to quit this kinda stress. Please stay, and keep Freelancer alive. Most, very most like the great Admin Team we have here, i bet. For me, i do.

Dear Tenacity,

Your RP is great, yes, but in only 1 point u are wrong:

You arent allowed to become a RP-Nazi here. You arent allowed to kill players, only because YOU mean, that such a small Other-Ones-RP is worth to become killed. He has the same ID (blood) like yourself! Read all the posts in the sanction threat again. And read again, if necessary, but always remember, what the great Reverend said:
Quote:Don't give a rat's ass about the consequences of my actions? Well thank you, I spend an awful lot of time worrying about how my actions affect this server, it bothers me that these sanctions have negative effects beyond their intended. What upsets me more however is you demanding we spend three hours on every sanction and yet you throw an accusation like that with zero research yourself.
And, remember: All Admins, i reapeat, ALL, spend their time without getting money from it.

I think the only question I can ask at the end of this is.....

If Black Squadron, the ruling faction of the Order, places a restriction on capital ships in a similar way to Rheinland and Liberty, and a few others.... Could they, and independant Order pilots following that restriction, order an unauthorized capital ship to dock and await approval (and if refused, destroy the vessel) without being in violation of the Admin Notice in regards to "Dictating Roleplay" as Liberty, Rheinland, and other factions are able to do?

Maybe the issue here is that the 2 groups involved in this (admins+blunt vs the Order (BS)) both have differant views of the order.

The admins +blunt seem to think the order are crazy terrorists that kill everything

BS seem to follow the view that the order are only interested in killing nomads/infested humans, in order to protect humanity. They are only viewed as terrorists by the governments.

So what view do we keep? Cause if we use the admins view then BS is oorp, but if we follow the SP and BS we'd notice that Blunt was oorp for invading newyork and KILLING what the order was sworn to protect.

So you can see the issue... maybe we need a CLEAR post defining the order.

just my opinion but ill lay this lout there:

never really talked about my ban in the forums before but i was banned for 14 days for sayin the word 'ass' out of character and 'pig' in character. what happened was someone rammed their AT into my ship to knock me out of 'initiating trade lane sequence' while running from 'cops'.

I asked for a review and didnt get it.
I asked for the screen shot that was used against me because it was likely to have contained the breaking of the rules that casued me to 'curse' in the first place.

Anyway I learned a lot from that incident, and the important thing i learned was not to get sanctioned.

Now on the other side of the coin I have some really silly **** done to me. The worst i can think of was being killed in a level 26 light fighter for not having an ID. I had just purchased the ship and forgot to transfer. I was attacked by 3 bounty hunter battlecruisers for that.

The only thing I ever repoorted was being killed in a hammerhead. they guy didnt check my IFF or ID, just killed me on the principal of the ship i fly without warning or provocation. Nothing ever came of that one.

Now, back to the begining. a lot of peopl claim this is a role playe server. most people do more complaining about other peoples role play than role playing. you can post a 15 page backstory on the forums without role playing a single bit. people really dont know what role play is and yet try to enforce it. Its very annoying to experienced role players such as myself.

I am sorry to say but the PvP rules have been layed out in stone and there are still issues with that here. the rp rules have not been laid down in stone and there are 360 degrees of what people think role play is here.

So with all i have said in mind realize that:
1. its not fair
2. youre not going to change it or fix it
3. the best bet is to accept it or play somewhere else.

its like people complaining about george bush, I know many people that do it, but i dont know anyone that could do it better, or at all for that matter.

This is getting off topic, but ill respond:

To the extent of my knowledge, with the slight chance of exception for the order gunboat, all order capital ships will only be sold in omicron 100 in 4.85. Omicron 100 is owned and controlled entirely by black squadron - and they have, as a system owning faction, the ability to restrict any and all players they want from purchasing those ships regardless of reason.

now, what we plan on doing is asking players who wish to purchase capital ships after 4.85 to prove to us, either in-game OR on the forums, that they know how an order officer should behave, know what RP means, and know to not break basic server or faction rules - in essence, to keep themselves restrained and play the game so that EVERYONE has fun, and not just them with the big guns.

Any players who do not match up to that requirement (which is not exactly demanding, mind you) will not be allowed to purchase order capships, simple as that.

I'm little too late, maybe...but....

' Wrote:Sanction.

Is that really what this mod has come down to?

It seems to me from recent posts by the admins that they expect sanctions to handle every problem on this server. They've completely removed any say that players here have in the matter - if you try to do things yourself and save the admins trouble, you get sanctioned. If anyone does anything you dont like, hey, why not submit a sanction report!

This server is run by RP, and that RP is established by the players here. Without the players, you have no server, you have no RP, and you have no mod. Where the hell do you think we're going to get if you automatically label every RP project here as 'non-canon' and start sanctioning people for it?

What I find even more unnerving is that all of these sanctions are being put forth by Xoria and Del, two of the 'newest' admins we have. Where are the rest? Why has control of this server been left to two people who quite obviously dont give a rat's backside about the consequences of their actions?

Yes, some people who really do break rules deserve to be sanctioned. But as the admins have said countless times before, sanctions are a last resort! - that isnt how they're being treated, though. Every time anyone has a problem here, it seems a sanction is the solution.

To the two admins mentioned above: Please, lay off, you are not helping the situation on this server. Make damn sure that there is nothing else that can be done to solve a problem before you start throwing out sanctions to handle it.

A majority of the problems I've seen lately could have been handled in-game, in-RP, by the PLAYERS, and would have ended better for everyone. Instead, the admins start flinging around the sanction hammer, ruining this mod for everyone who plays on it. Honestly, what would Igiss say to this situation? I understand he's a busy guy, but do you really think he would support beating, killing, and maiming everyone's RP here just because it isnt 'canon'? Do you really want this server to stagnate and rot because you wont allow people to expand on their own factions?

If your answer is yes, I honestly feel bad for you, you never deserved the position you were given in the first place.

/He reads my mind? Do you, Tenacity?

I honestly agree with that... and you have just wrote down my opinion about recent events here....
What to say, last days yoy can't say or do anything without being reported.

Your character (in RP) have strange opinions? Huh? Reported and sanctioned. Huh? Your characters don't agree with someone elses bahavivor? Reported and sanctioned with a big note from admins, you damned RP dictator. Eh.

That changed a lot, during last months. Its starting to be a great, nice, police state here.

Quite sad, isn't it?

Happy Christmass,
Elvin

Allright, im not going to argue the fors and againts for all the arguments made here.

Im going to keep what i say pretty simple and Rules-lawyer proof.

As the newest of the admin team, i will say this - To blindly say that a member of that the admin team makes decisions without thought of the consequences is just pure ignorance, and dead-set wrong. Everyone is is entitled to their opinion, and Tenacity, you're entitled to yours, but let me say that the statements you made concerning Del and Xoria were ignorant, and they were wrong.

I will add this, things are discussed, things are assessed, decisions are made. Those decisions are looked again, and again and again... no member of the admin team here is infallible, are any of you infallible? If so, please step up....I consider myself one of the most fallible of creations' creatures, i know i'm going to make mistakes - i know im going to make some tough decisions.
If a decision is found to be wrong, do you think an admin member wont admit it? If a decision is made that is considered necessary, but is unpopular, you will see us defend it, if things are said to be a work in progress - do you not think that the state of that progress will be as considered as it can be? Do you honestly think that an admin goes - "oh Blah do that" - without giving it a second thought? I mean.. seriously? are you kidding?

Player sentiment is considered in admin thinking, as is the good of the server, and a million other teeny little factors that players who are thinking in linear terms with the blinkers on have the luxury of not having to think about. It's so easy to be an armchair general, a hell of a lot tougher when suddenly you are responsible.
And im saying this now after three weeks on the job.

In my short time i have seen decisions looked at over and again, old decisions revisited, questions asked, ramifications considered, multiple points of view tossed about, fors and against parried, sleep not had, caffeine abused, game time missed out on.... and they volunteer for it?!

Take a deep breath people, step back, remember you are playing a game, and there are a lot of people, Players and yes, admins who have shown a lot of time and dedication to this place - Del is one of them, Xoria is another, As are so many other people who frequent this place.
Put things in perspective, step back and think about things before shooting one's mouth off or... hitting "Send" on an inflammatory post - and if you really, REALLY feel the need to vent at someone, do them the courtesy of taking it to them personally via a Pm.
