Quote:I kinda like Kane's increased penalties system, but the main issue here, is that the 3-death rule, isn't a rule. Its only a gentlemen's rule that can't be server-enforced as its not a server-rule.

Really... It's not my place to interpret the rules for anyone... so maybe someone could explain this to me...
Quote:1.5 During a PvP combat player who was killed 3 times should leave the fight, unless sides specify another limit of deaths before the combat begins. Sides should specify goals of the fight and exact time when it begins (and ends).

One life to live - that's my favourite.
(As it is the most useful for RP)

the 3-death rule *IS* a server rule.

However what is *NOT* a rule, is what to do afterwards. it doesn't say to "leave the system for 24 hours" or anything. It just states you cannot re-engage after your 3rd death.

If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov
The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor

I agree with one live to live, As its more realistic as the other players say.

i like the 3 death rule because then if you had a bad fight you can come back and redeem yourself.

Death - Lose all your equipment as well as your ship. You respwan with the starting ship and 20% of the price of whatever ship you just lost added to your credits. This way you are not left with nothing, still have to get more money and what not but 20% is better then nothing.*

The one life thing is probably more realistic but either way you will get people that would respawn and engage again.

Um Vic your idea sucks...Sorry I like the one death idea and that you're then out of the pvp and that is that. Losing everything is just dumb and if that happens I will leave.. imagine you lose a BS fight and then you have a starflier? That is STUPID that is too much realisim.....

I went with the one death per fight rule. For me, at least, PvP fights have been getting longer and more boring, especially when your opponent keeps returning to try again. Of course, I was never big on PvP in the first place. So, one death and I'm done.

True, but if the "One Death" rule were to be applied, then your opponent would be breaking a server rule by doing that. That alone may not stop them from coming back, but hey, it's a rule, and if you don't follow the rules, then there are penalties. Actually, that's kind of the way things are now, just with three deaths instead of one. So if someone comes back to fight after three deaths, then they are breaking a rule already. Lowering the number of allowed deaths doesn't change the fact that that's still illegal on the Disco server.
