' Wrote:I agree that Freelancer graphics could do with a make over. There is room for improvement. However, I think the Devs time would be far better spent on more important aspects of the mod. Aesthetics should be second to gameplay, always. And even then there are more important aesthetic improvements we could work on than this idea, such as adding missing base names in the NPC dialogue, making unique bases for different houses, and getting the lasts of the imports replaced.
And THAT has hit the nail on the head.
For all those wanting to add better graphics to Discovery, may I suggest to you that if you want better graphics so bad, become a developer, submit the files you have made to Igiss and see what happens. Who knows, YOU might improve Disco.

Those additions are all very easy, if you want I can probably get Forsaken to pop by and explain the process. In the mean time we should be more focused on realistic and intelligent development, planning, and refinement.

To reiterate the above.
DIY really.
The Dev team are working on some graphics related things but in reality, it's up to them if any of them want to work on graphics related things.
The list goes on. I never did count them, but i know it was close 100 new effects over all if you added them all up i done myself. The problem being Discovery is so large and the effects are spread out across the whole of the game. New engines in galia most of thiere guns and equipment. Nomad equipment, Phantom equipment bla bla.... The graphics were also increased in 4.85.
So all i can say is be patient. Discovery is a big mod, and i know first hand how long it took to add whats already been added. And theres not 1 effect being wasted aswell including vanilla effects. They are all being used somewere.
You gameplay > graphics ELITISTS need to get over yourselves. If someone has already done the work what is the harm in updating Disco/any mod to look a little nicer?
Nicer graphics can increase immersion which can increase gameplay value.
Stop being so haughty.
Just as we reap the golden wheat, must we also cut free of the chains! [eS]
I'd personaly be against a standard graphic improvement. Reason being? A minority of PC's wouldn't be able to handle the same mod anymore, and would hence be cast out of the game and practicly the community as well.
That said, I'll say that I would certainly enjoy a better looking Freelancer that could still have graphic that run on lower end machines. (As I play on a low end laptop and very high end computer, I know the best or worst of both worlds.) If we just raised the minimum, that wouldn't be good.
Something else, though, might be better.
Iff the devs have enough free time.
(And for those of you who don't know some more abstract and scientific geometric lingo: Iff = If and only if.)
I know that my processor can handle freelancer, but only just. It was a mid line CPU when FL came out and I really don't think it would like to many new graphics, and since it is the only computer I have that can even run FL online...
