Yeah. There's a program/plugin called FLHook on the server, that keeps you in-game for 60 seconds after a sudden loss of connection. So basically, if you log off in open space, or if Freelancer crashes, you'll have to wait a little over a minute before you can log in again.
Now I'm going to be a party-pooper - or at least the voice of reason here.
This is an RP server. RP means Role-play. While PvP (Person versus Person) combat is a part of RP, it's NOT the main reason for being on this server. (Okay, to lots of people it is, but that's another story.)
There are a lot of established characters and personas on here. For example, Mon'Star is quite a psychopathic little maniac - and he's got a very dangerous ship as well. Then Yoda(T) is - well, a Jedi that goes and does pretty much whatever he likes, and everyone leaves him alone. There are established pirate groups - and lord knows we don't need any more Corsairs.
Which brings me to my next point - you said you and 40 and of your gaming buddies. Please realize that our factions and groups ARE established here. While you're quite welcome to come play here - please don't come here and then try to tell us what to do. We just went through that a few months ago when a new group of players came in as one, and tried to take over the already established RP for an entire npc faction. Since it just so happens that there were already two well established groups here for that faction already - it got ugly, quick, and there were recriminations and words - as well as sanctions - flying left and right for a while.
So if you guys want to play together - cool. But please respect what's already here, and take the time to learn what's going on already.
Regarding system ownership - just to clarify one other detail. There are a lot of systems on this server that we as players have spent 1 BILLION credits on. We are officially recognized factions - which gives us the right to have official recruitment pages. We also have stricter rules of conduct than independant players, because being part of a recognized faction means that you are contributing to the RP of that faction. Thus, while your faction may not have the absolute best ships and/or weapons available, you still fly the appropriate ships and use the correct guns for those ships. In our home owned systems, some of the general server rules do not apply. For example, any PvP restrictions based upon level or ship type are out the window. If you fly into an owned system with a level 7 starflier and there's a battleship sitting there - he's free to blow you to kingdom come. If you fly into an owned system with a freighter or transport ship and there's a battleship sitting there - he's free to blow you to kingdom come. (He still has to make a comment to the effect of - "You have trespassed here and now must pay the price", but not much else.)
Ask questions about them. Also realize two other minor details. Because of the 4.85 mod coming out, the ID cards override the rules. And lastly, just saying, "Engaging" is NOT enough RP before you start combat.

First I'de like to say, I know what RP is and how to RP, I love it. Especially the way this server is run and how reputation works here.
Second, im not looking to change anything, everything is fine the way it is, or however the creators/players want it, I was just suggesting the extra ships b/c i love lots of nice looking ships:)whether they actually ever get in the mod or not is for the devs to decide and doesn't really change my decision to be playing on the server or not
Third, my friends go with the flow really, and we are very competitive and will most likely be playing against each other rather then with each other.
And I would like to ask a question, the ID cards, how do i know what card I need at any given point? Right now im running with the civilian card, but I'm mining, does that mean I need a miner card? im under lvl 30 still.... and if I have a fighter ship, and a fighter type ID card, does that mean I cannot mine what so ever? even know i won't be making much with that small cargo hold?
P.S. I minimized the game to post this, and when I got back in game I was dead, and I have no idea how I died, Is there a log I can look at to see If i need to get off for 4 hours?
Anyways, there is no "fighter type" ID, insofar as there is no ID just for players flying fighters. Most IDs are NPC faction IDs, and they typically have restrictions on larger ships, but as far as I know, any ID will allow you to fly fighter-class vessels. The only restrictions might be on certain ships. And really, use your common sense. You wouldn't see a Deep Space Engineering escort pilot flying a Corsair Titan.
Probably been suggested already, but I seriously reccomend you and your friends sign up for a few factions, on both sides of the law.
If you can stomach Liberty in all its whorage, I suggest the LPI and LR, both being nice starting factions. Apart from that, I don't know too much about those outside Liberty. Maybe consider applying for one of the Bretonian factions (BPA, BAF, Molly's, Gaian's etc.)
Rheinland is the way to go. Hessians, LWB, RFP isn't too bad (Some have poorer english skills, but perfectly fine). I have no idea about Kusari since, well I have hardly been there at all. Hope you and your friends have a nice time.
Come RP in Kusari! Plenty of lawful, semi-lawful, unlawful, and just plain interesting things happening around here! Plus, insulting a samurai in Kusari is a crime, and gets the offender fined or shot;)
How exactly do I get my tag changed to match my ID, and how exactly do I even see what my tag currently is?
Also, whats the difference between System and Local System chat?
Are the mining bonuses in effect? On my server I was mining some stuff and getting 9 per pickup, here I only get 1 per pickup, even with 6 class 2 mining lasers and a miner ID
And how do I report someone for breaking the rules? (a friendly kept firing at me and then saying sorry, repeatedly) <(I figured it wasn't an accident anymore after about the 2nd time, he did it about 12 times while i was mining)
