I am against increasing restrictions to solve problems such as this. In my experience, increasing freedoms and relying on the mature majority to resolve conflicts as they see fit is more effective. The true power of any community-driven entity lies in the members of the community, not in the rules or those who enforce them.
If there is a problem with certain members -- or non-members, as it might be -- of the community, the only way to truly and finally resolve it is for those members to be encouraged to ameliorate. I don't think there is a single way to make do this, however; for some it will be as simple as kindly pointing out their mistake, for others much more is required.
In all cases, it is important to remember that the experienced members of the community are in the best position to incite improvement. We cannot rely on inexperienced members to single-handedly improve the community and their part in it. We cannot expect them to learn if we don't make an effort to teach them.
Quote:EMOTICONS ARE BAD
I quite disagree with this. Overusing emoticons is detrimental, but prudent usage can greatly increase the level of communication between people. Of course, there are varying opinions on this, just like with all things. It does bring up a valid point, however: Tolerance from veterans is just as important as a willingness to learn from newbies; vice versa is not altogether inapplicable, either.
"It is simple: start screaming that they are infected and they must explode:) (i know, bad example, but it worked few months ago on corsair indies caps)"
i do hope that is not a tutorial for a "how to loophole the rules so you can achive a kill..." - no matter how wrong the target is. - it was said quite some times - two wrongs don t make a right.

Perhaps I should clarify: In my opinion, using several words to describe the same thing is usually a more precise way of communicating and is always my approach, I rarely use emoticons. We communicate with informal languages, however, so we cannot expect everything to be precise and more precise is not always more better.
We are straying from the topic.
In my experience, people have generally managed to ignore people who insist on not accomodating other peoples' roleplay. I have never had any real problems with OORP behaviour, merely sporadic inconvenience -- of course, I haven't been in the positions that many others have been. Therefore, I have little experience to draw on for these posts, but until I find otherwise, I will continue to be in favor of friendly, tolerant, and subjective individual case resolution.
I dont like the setmsg command, it only allows and encourages lazyness. I've always only had indi characters, I hate the un-freelancerish way the millitaries and factions operate (Get a bomber + fighter, play X many hours, buy gunboat, ect) Ive also seen many lolindy and lolcaps. As news about the war between Lib + Rhienland got more known, and 4.85 came out, more and more lolindys have been moving to Rhienland, and I hate to say, infecting the RP. I had also had an Rhienland Battleship Indy, but many [RM]'s said I was the most respected BS indi in Rhienland. (I noticed about 4-5 other BS indies, who had been there longer than me). I also noticed this with the Order. I am regularly around them in my Juggernaut. Its sad that such a great faction is plauged with Lolorders... Of course, 42|'s are great RP'ers, and i still have quite fun with them.
Ive seen a few more lolfactions, like the
CoLOLnials...
I dont know if this effects every faction with capital ships...
Tut-tut. An almost entirely unhelpful and pointless post that bashes a faction and serves no other purpose than to trumpet one's own (alleged) RP brilliance. I suspect this thread's uesfulness has been compromised. Stop it with the negative stuff or we weld the door shut.
