Well, carrier are EXPENSIVE..very..and if this launching NPC actually works, then carriers would be like..a billion credits to buy, I guess, anyway carriers are meant to be powerful, think of bomber swarmz on a carrier, it just died so easily, just a matter of time, I HATE it when my carrier gets bomberswarmed to death, so actually launching some high lvl NPCs would work terrific, of course the NPCs would have to be like guard NPCs, so they dont fail so easily, its actually not role playing if a carrier cant launch fighter ship, well, if it ever happens on disco, i suggest we put multiple commands like;

/wing 2 undock (this would be used if we had 2 or more squadrons to be launched)
/wing 2 dock
/engage ''enemy player name here''
/engage ''enemy player name here'' wing 2 (would be used if you want your wings attacking different people)
/engage target (used for the wing to attack the your target(meaning the one you clicked on), can be used for taking down enemy NPCs, cause they dont have a name)
/wing 1 idle (used if you want them to just stay in formation with you undocked-default position for the wing once it undocks-or just showing off your stuff :cool:)
/wing 1 hostile (its a hostile state for the wing, meaning it will attack anything hostile in the area, once the wing killed something, it'll target the next target.)
/wing 1 defensive (the wing will not fire back, only evade)

''Purchasing'' different kinds of wings would be cool, like LFs, VHFs, even bombers.

Results:
1. Carriers actually are Carriers now
2. Extended RP
3. You have a chance against bomber swarmz

I think its a great idea, it would be very nice if it can be done.

I would love that idea too. And the idea for the commands is great.:yahoo:

We could have Fighter wings, and Bomber wings:lol:

Carriers could have let's say 4 wings,
BS could have just 1 wing.

And the most important, player MUST buy each fighter or bomber in their wing.:rtfm:
So for example if a wing has VHF, they have to cost at least 2mill each, plus the price of weapons, armor, same as for normal players.

Great idea,
but if you want to launch them from carrier/ BS then you must give them a specific flight time, after that they have to return to carrier for resupply & refit, repairs
these will cost same as now & debited from player account.

No not a flight time, it would be better if you just used the /wing 1 dock for them to dock, though there should be a rule, like if one of the fighter's die, then it will be ''unavailable'' for an hour or so, or to make it more challenging, if it got killed, then its dead...forever, and you would have to buy another wing until the whole wing is dead, but if it would be like that, then a wing should not cost 100mil for a wing, mostly 10-20, depending on its type. Of course this option will only be used for carriers, not battleships, except the Nomad BS, wow, think of a nomad LF swarm :cool:

Bomber swarming is supposed to be a good way to destroy battleships.

If you say: Bombers should get fighter escorts. Well, to have enough bombers to destroy a BS and enough fighter to escort them, it would create lag. And we all know NPCs are advantaged by lag. It would be unfair.

Hmmm, why canadians are the only to have a sig image.

No No, you got me wrong, each wing should mostly compose of 3 ships, you can only have 1-2 wings, mabye even 3, but still, a carrier is a ship that carries fighters/bombers, its main role should be to stay a bit far from the battle and let its fighters do the work, and about the lolcaps, like i said the carrier population should be controlled by the appropiat (couldnt spell that) player faction. Carriers are meant to be strong anyway, the only way that you kill another capship, should be another capship. Though I am NOT saying bombers cant kill capships, they're meant to do just that, its just if the carriers had some fighters wings, it should be a bit harder for the bomber to hit the carrier..

I think some of the Battleships should be able to launch fighters, namely the Osiris (from SP), the Corsair Dreadnaught (It has like, 3 docking places on it), Carriers, obviously, and any other Battleship that looks like it either has a docking port, or can be implemented.

Many good ideas on how this could happen. Now that 4.85 is out of the beta stages, I would love to see this being discussed for 4.86 or something. At least an alpha/beta test to see the feasibility.

More like, just alter the hitboxes and put working docking chutes and bays into cap ships so we can go take off in them and feel like we're real space jockeys :rolleyes:

I, however, respectfully disagree with the pricing of fighter wings. Reason: NPCs suck compared to players. Perhaps 5 mil a wing, and 250k to repair each wing. This will keep the cost down a bit, but still discourage spamming of NPC wings.

Price adjustable based on type of ship.

Though, would it be wings of fighters (4 per) or squadrons (12 per)

I'd say a BS merits 4 wings, a carrier 4 squadrons? Just a thought though.
